Sleepless Night Att: Andronda/D'jarin

Jerzy Tobin

Another night, another nightmare. It was impossible to say just how
long Andronda had tossed and turned in her bed, but one thing was
clear: she would not be getting back to sleep. Besides being still
too hot and sticky to be comfortable, it seemed that every time she
closed her eyes she was once again trapped in that crowd, and
everywhere she turned there were knives there waiting for her. Shard
it all, *she* hadn't even been the one to be attacked! So why did she
have to suffer nightmares from it?

'Because you could be next,' she thought to herself savagely. She was
a gold rider, after all. Well, lying there wasn't getting her
anywhere, so Andronda pushed herself out of bed. If she couldn't
sleep, she might as well go for a walk. And since it was night time,
she decided to bring Pochi with her. A walk would do the little
wherpup some good as well.

Outside, the air was still hot and humid, but at least there was a
slight breeze. Overhead heat lightning flickered in the clouds, but
it brought no relief or hint of an actual storm that might help cool
things off.

((Person come!)) Pochi declared, the blue wherpup placing himself in
front of Andronda. ((Pochi not know person.))

"Hello?" Andronda called out. Perhaps it wasn't as late as she had
thought, if she wasn't the only one about. Then again, hot as it was,
there were probably plenty of people who couldn't sleep.

"I'm here." D'jarin called, not wanting to alarm whoever was approaching; he stayed seated, however, only lifted a hand in the gloom as a locator. "D'jarin of bronze Vizslath, ma'am." he added, because that voice had been definitely feminine.

A glance up at the sky, and then he was sighing. He wished the blasted storm would just break already.

Andronda saw the small wave not too far away, and with that bit of
movement, spotted the outline of the man sitting down not too far from
where Pochi had stopped her. He hadn't sounded too annoyed by her
presence, so after reassuring Pochi that this was okay, she continued
forward, albeit slower than before. Mostly so that Pochi got a chance
to calm down before they reached him, since the wherpup was picking up
on her nerves, it seemed.

"Good evening to you, bronze rider D'jarin," Andronda said, once she
could see the man more clearly. She was without her knots, but she
doubted that there were too many people in the Weyr who went around
with guards trailing after them. "I see I am not the only one unable
to find sleep."
