Look What I Found! Att: Aicha

Sweeps were a normal part of life for dragonriders, and Yeha and
Owkobith were no exception to that. It was a duty that the pair
didn't mind, even when most of the time there was little to nothing to
report. This was looking to be one of the duller sweeps; they were
over the area of Alonel Hold, and everything appeared to be in order,
with no problems to check into. Yeha had been about to order her blue
back to the Weyr when Owkobith turned sharply back towards the Hold,
or rather, one of the outlying pastures.

((Don't land near the beasts!)) Yeha scolded immediately. ((You'll
stampede them!))

((I'm sorry, Mine,)) Owkobith answered, ruefully. ((But I sense
someone down there! Someone we need to speak with.))

Ah. Yeha knew full well what Owkobith meant when he said he 'sensed'
someone. He was a Search dragon, and had been for turns now. If he
said there was a likely candidate down there, then they should, in
fact, check it out.

((Land downwind, that way the runners won't freak out.))

The brilliant colored blue rumbled in agreement, and glided into a
landing on the far side of the pasture that was empty of any beasts or
people. The people, Yeha was sure, would come to them. A dragon
landing in the Hold always attracted attention.

Alonel Hold wasn't all that far from Arolos, so the sight of dragons -while not all that common- wasn't an everyday occurrence, either. So the sight of a dragon overhead was notable, especially when the bright blue dragon landed on one of the empty runner paddocks for no apparent reason.

Aicha had just been out on a ride to take a turn-old runner filly back to the outer pasture when the blue dragon landed. She saw the dragon' in the distance, and wondered why it was there. As did quite a few other people, her father included.

Aicha joined the crowd of people welcoming the dragonrider as soon as she had Cade unsaddled and fed, then she went to stand beside her brother, Lynd.

Aicha joined the crowd of people welcoming the dragonrider as soon as she had Cade unsaddled and fed, then she went to stand beside her brother, Lynd.
Yeha had smiled as the crowd gathered to greet her and Owkobith, and
started inquiring about her sudden visit. Even there was no clutch on
the Sands as of yet, and none of the queens showing any signs of
rising any time soon, a possible Searching in a Hold caused a great
deal of excitement for those old enough to actually be Searched.
There was a great deal of prestige to be gained for a family to have
someone Searched, and even more if their family member Impressed.

At first, Owkobith showed no signs that whoever he had sensed was
present, but as some more people approached the already gathered
crowd, the blue dragon's head swung towards one section, and he peered
at the people there very intently.

((There! The person I sense is over here somewhere.))

"My dragon says that there is someone here suitable for Search within
this crowd. If you are willing, will those of an age to be Searched
step forward?" Yeha asked politely.

The appearance of a dragon had set up a flurry of activity and talk. The most common idea was that there was news of the upcoming Threadfall, or some unfortunate news from the Weyr. People chattered as they welcomed the Rider, then gradually fell quiet when Yeha called for those of Candidate age to gather.

Aicha was among those few young people, feeling ambivalent about it, but she stepped forward. Not many would deny a Dragonrider's request.
