Hatching - Come to Me atten: Girls Who Saw the Gold Eggs #HatchingForeth2020

As soon as the first Candidates arrived to the Hatching Caverns, Foreth started calling to the girls who had seen the gold eggs and Kassia's family to come up to the Upper Caverns. There she took final say as to if they no longer qualified.

((Come to me,)) she crooned. ((Come see my gold eggs.))

OOC: If your girl saw the eggs previously then let me know if you want your girl to be rejected, otherwise it's presumed that she's up with Foreth.

Rennitz approached the ueen, feeling a deep determination in her soul. She gave a respectful bow to the queen while a painful comiseration tinged the back of her mind. Foreth was so brave to see these little ones of hers hatching, especially after she'd just lost so many. Eight. Eight dragons who wouldn't see the light of day. For now, Rennitz focused her gaze on the two most important ones, the golds who had been isolated by their mother for their safety. They would hatch up here alone and find their mates. In a way, it was sort of poetic.

Deep down and with everything that she had, Rennitz prayed deeply to the hatchlings that one might choose her.

Kaylee shivered as a chill worked its way down her back. It rained all day, making it gloomy and darn near spooky.

She had her nose stuck in a lesson hide when she first heard and felt it. The eggs, how many ever there were...... Hatching was about to start.

Quickly she grabbed her robe and shimmed out of her boring everyday clothes and into her white gown. She was fixing her hair when she heard the summons from Foreth.

She quickly took off and raced for the Upper Caverns. She sucked in a breath and turned to greet Foreth with a curtsey before joining anyone else that was there.

Ioya ran as quick as she could in her white robes. It was odd to be awakened for a hatching at this time. She hoped that everything was okay. A small part of her hoped that singing egg had survived.

When she reached the upper cavern, she bowed to Foreth. "Good Hatching to you Fair Queen."

It was late and she was tired, but Orsailen wouldn't miss this for
anything! She glanced at her robe once more, having already been
fidgeting with it slightly to get it perfect, on the way up here. As
she stood in front of Foreth though feeling even more judged now than
she had originally she couldn't help the need for a steadying breath.
This was her change and she was going to take it! She wouldn't let her
papa or cousin down! She straightened up and looked at the gold
waiting, letting out a breath she didn't know she had been holding
when she was allowed past and got to once more see those golden eggs.

---------------

Dyarla had been barely sleeping when things had started and had been
glad for Little Drum as he was able to pull her awake before the ACMs
giving her a couple of extra moments. She had been glad as usual for
the extra work she had put into her robes when she found herself being
judged by Foreth. It made her feel just a bit better to know that she
had done all she could to be perfect for this moment. She knew looks
weren't what mattered, but it made her feel a bit better to know that
she had bothered for Foreth at the very least. The poor gold had been
through so much and she wanted to do all she could to make this
hatching as perfect as she could for the poor queen.

She hadn't thought a moment that she might be found wanting by the
gold, but she did find herself stepping carefully once she was allowed
though. There they were, the gold eggs, Foreth's pride and joys. She
knew the little ones in the hatching caverns below were good too, but
well as she had told her sister. She wanted this, she wanted them, and
that was all she could focus on right now.

Calyse joined the other girls on the upper platform, fussing nervously with the white gown she wore. This was it. Her brother once stood on the Sands below and found his own lifemate. Would she be as lucky? Was coming to Arolos really the right decision? Trepidation made flutterbynights in her stomach.

Offering a quick glance at the others, her lips twitched in a quick, silent 'good luck' to them. It was late, so very late, and yet she was filled with anxious energy that made standing still very difficult. Yet she tried to project an air of calm, bowing to the massive Queen hovering over her precious eggs.

"Th-Thank you, Foreth," she murmured over the humming, unsure whether the giant gold would hear her, but grateful nonetheless to be among those gathered.

After being sick on M'ayen, Shalia felt immensely better.  It helped that she was given the rest of the afternoon off - nobody wanted a repeat performance! - but even without that, she felt better.

So she was ready and eager when the call rang out late at night to get their robes on, as well as surprised; she'd been ready for bed, but the news gsve her a surge of energy and she quickly stripped to her underwear and threw her Hatching Robe on - her first opportunity she'd had to wear it beyond fittings in five Turns!

Both Nayari and her father checked in with her, but at her assurance that she was feeling better and seeing that she didn't look like she was about to drop at their feet, they cleared her to join the rest of the Candidates.

And then Foreth called to her.  She looked up, squinting in the gloom at the upper cavern where Foreth was readily visible even in the dim lighting, and reluctantly made her way up with the other girls, muttering not-quite-under her breath about sharding meddlesome golds.   But given everything that happened recently, she decided that upsetting the senior queen would be... unwise.

However, after she climbed up there and paid her respects, she planned on staying towards the back, near the way back down, so she could get to her blue easily when he called!  She cast several glances down, teying to get better looks st the eggs, but really couldn't see them well at all.  Shalia sighed; apparently she was destined to only see them in Lerian's eggs and her aunt's painting.

Almira was shaken awake along with the other candidates,  and gave a yawn before rolling out of her bunk with a surprised yelp. The humming was a big clue about what was going in, and she fumbled in her hurry to get her white robe on.

She followed the other gold hopefuls up to the cavern where Foreth was guarding the two precious gold eggs, and gave the Gold a courteous bow before turning her eyes on the eggs, a look of rapt attention on her face.

Trifali took her place beside the other girls, giving a respectful bow and greeting to Foreth. Her lower lip was unconsciously caught between her teeth, her heat pounding in her chest. Now was the moment of choice, the time of choosing. Impressed or not, her life would not be the same because she'd been privileged to see this hatching. Breath coming fast, she waited with the others.

Wycker wasn't sure what to think.  On the one hand, this round of Candidacy had been like no other.  Between the Weyrwoman's favortism, to the Hatching Caverns collapsing and the destruction of eggs, to the late night humms that broke the evening.  Dressed in white, she looked out into the Stands for T'quinn, before trying to find Leo among the others dressed in white.  When their eyes met, she smiled at him.  It was still complicated between them, but she wasn't focusing on that for this Hatching.  She found Ysolde and gave her friend an encouraging smile, before finding Calyse and moving to stand beside her.  As they walked onto the Sands, Wycker looked around.  She still wasn't sure what she was doing here, in the Weyr.  She felt the draw, felt the pull of a higher purpose, but she struggled to figure out if it was her Craft as a Harper, or this fanciful desire to be a Rider.  She didn't understand her reasons, and it made her struggle more than she liked.

But the choice was no longer hers.  Tonight, something else would decide for her.  And if, like last time, she was left alone in a white robe, then perhaps the choice would be hers again.  She didn't bother looking for her parents in the Stands; she knew they wouldn't be there.  She'd heard almost nothing from them since coming to the Weyr, and she didn't expect to anytime soon.

And then there was no time for further contemplation as the eggs began to Hatch...
