"She must have snuck in pretending to be a boy," T'rif guessed as she got out of the way. "I told her not to move until you got here." He was worried about her, but also furious.

Re: One Of These Things Is Not Like The Others ((Attn: Namieh, Kassia, Any Boys))

Could she? Nami blinked hard a few times, hanging onto the task with proverbially blanched knuckles. Willing her feet to move and trying to settle the rise of fear in her belly that the question had inspired, she wiggled her toes. Then she flexed her feet. Everything seemed fine on that front. When she began to move her legs, however, the motion jostled her torso and she cried out in pain. The sudden compression of her diaphragm sent another wave of agony through her chest, and the girl dissolved into helpless sobs.

"Don't discount yourself," Asheran interrupted when Ronhim mentioned, in that dreamy tone, that he thought he wasn't fit for bronze. He couldn't fathom not wanting a bronze - and not secretly thinking that you were good enough for the greatest of bronzes. Green, though. He tried not to make a face, though he did let his eyes roll as he gazed back at the hatching sands from his distant perch. "A green wouldn't suit me, I think," he said finally, then rubbed the back of his neck. Where was the... there, there was the brick-red, skull-faced egg.

"Bronze?" He hedged, because the more bronzes, the merrier. Red was a similar hue to brown, though, wasn't it? Maybe it was another brown. "Not a blue, anyway. Not a green. What do you think?"

And then, because he wasn't sure he'd met the boy before - being released to craftwork meant he missed new arrivals to the barracks: "I'm Asheran, by the way." He stuck out his hand.

Fabio simply chittered sadly. He hurt too much to think of much more to do. But he didn't squirm when picked up. On close examination, it was obvious that this was far from the first time he'd been hurt and tended to. At least he was calm and used to it by now. Of course, he was an idiot of a flit, and that calm could change at any moment.

She arced an inquisitive eyebrow. She had some ideas on where this conversation might be going, but it was better to allow the younger woman to get there at her own pace. "Why do you ask?"

"And-- and they don't even care!"  he added in a quiet hiss, vaguely aware that might not be a popular thing to be upset about just now. Almost that was worse, that someone could get hurt that badly and mostly people would react by being angry at them.
