To Be Interrupted (R'tal/Shalia)
Laura Walker
R’tal had felt a little guilty about Shalia staying back from the trip. Not that he couldn’t use the help, not that he wasn’t delighted to still have klah magically turning up before he even thought to request it. Still, if she felt obliged to stay, if this was the Candidates’ last fun before Hatching, it seemed mean not to have pushed her to go. It was with that thought he paused by her chair in a quiet moment. “You know, if you changed your mind I could probably still find someone to run you over there?” "Hrm?" Shalia said, looking up. "Oh, the trip? No thanks, last Candidate excursion I ended up pregnant, and then there was the one where we ended up going back thousands of Turns and everything went weird on me, and of course before that was the wher attack!" Granted, most of those had been working trips of some sort or another, but even so… she'd stopped trusting Out There. Every time she left on an organized, official outing, Bad Things Happened. R’tal laughed. “Well, from my point of view the Weyr’s a lot more peaceful with a lot fewer Candidates in it, but I didn’t want you feeling left out,” he said. “Er,” Having watched the girl grow up from a distance and then seeing her in his office daily for months on end he felt the vague need to say something supportive now Hatching was finally nearing for her (again). “You feeling all ready for them to start Hatching?” "Shards yes!" Shalia said fervently. "Haven't even had a chance to see the eggs thanks to thst stupid chit. Aunt Kassia did a painting, but it's just not the same. I'm actually kinda surprised they're going ahead with the trip, the way they cracked down on the rest of us." She hesitated briefly, but then decided against telling R'tal what was going on in the Barracks. It wasn't her place, and it also wasn't his. “Eh, between you and me - and you don’t have to pass it on - that’s not all about Candidate punishment,” R’tal admitted. He settled on the edge of the desk, happy to chat for a few minutes. “After that Gather incident, your aunt is on edge and to be honest, so am I - and so are the dragons. No-one wants to risk one of them getting twitchy and someone getting hurt, not with one kid already in the Infirmary.” "Yeah, I understand," Shalia admitted, albeit a bit grudgingly. "I don't like it, but I understand. But even so, if she hadn't done that, the rest of it wouldn't be happening. What I don't understand, though, is why Asheran is getting punished so harshly. He tried to stop her, Uncle R'tal! He shouldn't be barred from Standing for that!" The petite young woman looked at him, and if it had been any fiercer it could almost have been called a glare. “Asheran?” R’tal looked at her so blankly it was clear he had no idea what she was talking about, still less why she might be angry at him. “Who’s that then?”
"The guy who got banned from Standing this Hatching for chasing after and stopping the stupid chit running onto the Sands," Shalia responded. "It's not fair that he's being punished for trying to do the right thing!" “I didn’t know he--” R’tal started to say and then stopped. Just stopped and went suddenly pale, the colour draining from his face. There was a faint noise in the distance -- a bang, was that an explosion? It was as though he had forgotten Shalia was there entirely. In a second he was up and running -- sprinting -- towards the Hatching Grounds, conversation long-forgotten. Blackadder: I mean, what about the people that do all the work? Baldrick: The servants. Blackadder: No, me; *I'm* the people who do all the work.

And Humpty Dumpty Had a Great...Blast atten: ALL/Healers/guards
sailyn2
Things were never entirely quiet around Arolos. Whether it was political issues between having two Weyrleaders, wine being taken away after parties, attacks at the Gather, heat waves, or monsoons, the last few months had been no different. That said, the last sevenday or so had been nice and quiet. With Kassia growing noticeably pregnant while dealing with Foreth sitting on her own eggs, including two gold eggs, Kassia was glad for the reprieve. It was that point on in the day where the sun was very low in the sky, barely visible and offering meager light. Foreth was in the Caverns, as always, curled around her eggs with the twin golds holding the majority of her attention. Truenoth and Talith were tucked inside with her but close to the entrance. Kassia was just finishing her paperwork for the day. She stood and stretched. “I’m going to be in the temporary weyr for a few minutes, love,” Kassia called to her lifemate before turning to head into the weyr which had been enlargened since she’d first started inhabiting the Caverns with Foreth. Kassia stepped inside and reached for her carafe of juice. Suddenly everything went dark and she was flying across the room. A large boom ripped through the weyr. She screamed as she hid the door and everything went black. The big dragons guarding the place were going to keep him out with all that flailing they were doing, but Kodah was going to get inside to Kassia if it killed him. He had not let a single soul inside, not but those who were allowed, and he knew his colleagues had not, either. Had something burst beneath the Caverns? He could not say. And he very nearly went flying at the swipe of the bronze one's tail, but he managed to dive out of the way just in time. "Kassia!" he called as he scrambled back to his feet. N'shen's head immediately whipped toward the Hatching Cavern, and he instinctively pressed the palms of his hands to his eyes. [[What happened!?]] he demanded of the screaming voice in his head. ((A blast! I cannot see! You must come now, we must save my children!)) Truenoth demanded. N'shen was on his feet and running in a moment, but his shoulder glanced off the frame of his door as he ran. He cursed and gathered himself together again and resumed his dash toward the Hatching Grounds. Talith was up and snarling at hidden dangers in the sudden blackness, bewildered but ready to guard his eggs. ((Truenoth! Something attacks!)) he warned. He couldn’t imagine what, but he had felt the scorch of heat against his hide before darkness had fallen, could feel the burn now. He heaved himself up and staggered a few wobbly feet, tripping on the bronze’s tail. ((Dragon attacks!)) he said alarmed, feeling the hide. ((Be wary!)) It had been a perfectly normal conversation. Calm small talk, the kind normal people had when out for a walk. Normal people didn’t feel the world explode in their heads though. R’tal didn’t even stop to ask what had happened, just went white and turned, breaking into a run. Between the initial blast and Kassia going black confusion had fallen over Foreth for a moment. Something had gone wrong, she knew that much. Her butt and tail burned. Smoke concentrated near the wall and the Stands and was spreading. ((Mine...Mine...Mine...!)) Each word was more and more panicked sounding as she probed at her lifemate’s mind even as twin instincts to protect her lifemate and her clutch warred at her. Back in the temporary weyr, Kassia started to rouse. The world was still dark with the little light coming through the windows into the Caverns from the temporary weyr being covered in smoke. She could barely breathe through the smoke. Coughing, she tried to roll onto her hands and knees and screamed and nearly passed out again as she leaned weight on her arm. ((MINE!)) The pair might fight, but when it came to it Kassia was her lifemate and she’d kill anyone that tried to hurt her. ((NO ONE HURTS MINE AND MY EGGS!)) Her eyes rolled red-orange as fury rushed through her. She half opened her wings, smacking into the sides of the Caverns and at least one of the other dragons and then whirled toward the temporary weyr. Unfortunately her attention was more on getting to her lifemate in that moment and not for the eggs at the edges of the clutch. "Foreth!" Kodah called. "FORETH!" He had no intention of letting the gold tear him apart without realizing who he was if he tried to get to Kassia without her permission. "It's me, Kassia's guard. Let me get to her!" Sniffit bounded in behind Kodah but did not advance any further than he did. He echoed Kodah's sentiments to her as best he could. There were a few sickening crunches that Foreth would regret later. For now she had her goal and went for it singlemindedly. She reached the edge of the Stands as Kodah did and pulled back a paw, ready to take out the threat. Kassia had heard Kodah’s cry and even as she struggled to get closer to the door, she threw her will at the gold just before the deadly claws could come down. ((DON’T HURT HIM! Let him SAVE ME!)) Foreth hesitated, shaking her head hard. ((Make him get me out,)) Kassia added, struggling to think through the pain and the smoke. Foreth lowered her paw and to Kodah she said, ((SAVE MINE! You hurt her more, and I’ll eat you.)) Kodah might have had something clever to say if he had a few minutes to ponder it, but as it was, he was too focused on his job to think of it. [[Sniffit, rescue!]] he sent with images of the wher clearing the rubble. The pair rushed in and quickly but carefully got to work lifting the fallen debris to reach Kassia. "I'm coming, Kassia!" he called. "Can you hear me?" The sound of Kodah’s voice came in through the door. Kassia lifted her head and groaned as even that shifted her on her arm. “I’m in here!” she called as loud as she could manage and then dissolved into coughing. Sniffit rushed in through the door, staying low to the ground and searching for Kassia by scent – the wher had hers committed to memory, of course. When he reached her, he crooned to her and sent what he saw back to Kodah, who followed him in. Kassia sagged back to the ground with relief as the sight of her wher an guard saviors appeared in the dark weyr. “Hel...help...” she gasped between coughs. “Hit...my head...arm...broken...I think...” ((HURRY!)) Foreth snapped in his head. Kodah very carefully lifted Kassia, supporting her as best he could without hurting her arm any worse than it was. "You're going to be OK," he said. "Stay with me." **Big bronze, stop screech, get Healer!** Sniffit chastised Truenoth, and a few moments later, the bronze was wailing in Elphith's head, demanding that her rider send all of the Healers she had. For a moment, Truenoth was worried she had heard, send a lot of Healers, so he made sure she understood – send all the Healers she had. And Talith was shouting a similar message to K’ren; send help, send Healers, send EVERYONE. And that seemed a good idea for a moment, so much so that he turned up the ‘volume’ on that message, projecting it to other dragons. ((THE EGGS ARE BEING ATTACKED. YOU AND YOUR RIDERS SHOULD COME AND GUARD THEM. NOW.)) It didn’t carry the weight of a gold’s command, but Talith wasn’t usually a dragon to panic at the drop of a hat and there was enough alarm in that statement to garner attention. That done, he dropped his head back onto his fore-legs, exhausted for a moment. His entire face felt like it was throbbing, and it was still so very dark.

"So they get extra training as a Weyrling? I thought the Weyrlings"Ah, yes, there is a difference between having one gold and two," T'rif said. "One gold Weyrling can be demanding enough as they take extra time and training to do their future duties and how to keep their dragons from overrunning the other dragons and making them do things. Two golds means that much more time and resources put into the two of them. They also tend to be rivals. The last two were definitely rivals, but I don't think even if they liked each other that it would have been better. The two golds will likely compete and try to one-up each other, which could potentially be very dangerous." << already had alot to learn, how do they have extra time to learn extra things?" Jaseto would never claim to know alot about their training of course, but what kid didn't complain when walking a gather even if it was just briefly? She had heard Weyrlings complain before about their work load and if it was true how did the golds have so much extra time to learn extra stuff? "If they are in the same class why do they have to be rivals? I thought riders were supposed to be able to control their dragons, so couldn't their riders at least make them get along?" *Kouga* Join the Aywas fun - http://aywas.com/register.php?ref=768 "My personality is 30% the last anime I watched." - Tumblr "Remind me never to get out our bad side. T'rif was surprised to see a man on the otherside. A full grown rider. He wondered if the man was a father to one of the Candidates and was coming to yell.
"ACM and Candidate counselor T'rifoshe, yes," he said formally just in case this was someone coming to yell. Best to remind them of his position as more than just a bronze rider. "How can I help you?"

"Come in," he called loudly.<<T'rif was on the other side of the door doing paperwork. It seemed lately he was either counseling a Candidate or he was doing paperwork about counseling that Candidate. A lot of Candidates were having issues after the run on the Hatching Sands and the tightening of the rules. M'gil hesitated a brief flash, but forced himself not to, he was a JM and he knew how to not panic, he could do this. He made his way into the office at the call making a point to push the door shut behind him, he didn't exactly want the candidates to hear, not when he had no clue what the man would have to way. The hides all over his desk spoke of way too much to do and not enough time to do it. He hadn't had to deal with that very often but he had it often enough that he understood, though it had been less of a problem in the past couple of turns, but well that was another thing entirely. "Bronzerider T'rif?" he asked after a moment of studying the man making sure he had the right person. *Kouga* Join the Aywas fun - http://aywas.com/register.php?ref=768 "My personality is 30% the last anime I watched." - Tumblr "Remind me never to get out our bad side. Re: Opportune Conversations Over the Buffet Table ((Attn: Ko'ssen, Valesa))
Rosiegirl
Ko’ssen noticed the young woman’s blush as he lowered his hand, and tried to wave it off as if she didn’t need to be embarrassed for not having noticed it. He also noticed that Valesa bit her lip, and wondered if just his questions were making her re-think her decision or if he was making her nervous. *He* didn’t think he was intimidating, but he did recognize that not only being a bronzerider but also the WLM might be intimidating for some people, no matter how friendly he was with them. Still, when she began speaking Ko’ssen focused his warm brown eyes on her and gave her his full attention. As she spoke about mentorship for younger riders, newly graduated riders, even Valesa should be able to tell that there was clear interest and consideration on his face as she talked. When she finished speaking, Ko’ssen was silent for a long moment, clearly considering her words carefully, her history as well as her suggestion about training up young riders as AWLMs. Finally he began with, a AWLM mentorship is actually something I’d had an idea for, when I first began WLM, but I wasn’t able to fully flesh out that idea with everything else going on. So, you do have some good points, about riders who’d been in the Wings at least 2 turns, to have some experience, who could be good teachers and training them into AWLMs.” He paused there, still thinking a bit, before continuing with “And what you’d mentioned about yourself, the fact that you impressed at your very first Hatching, means that with having so little time as a Candidate yourself...especially if it was under a full turn as a candidate, that you’d probably have a leg up on relating to any weyrling who, similar to you, impresses after very minimal time as candidates themselves. You could relate to them feeling unprepared and overwhelmed with things they never got a chance to know as a candidate.” Here, just to make sure she didn’t think he was calling her out, Ko’ssen smiled and said “Just like I myself would have that same ability to relate to them, having impressed only a few short months after turning 12 and joining candidacy myself. Although your experiences in weyrlinghood, I dare to say, are *quite* a few turns fresher for you than they are for myself. But I can also certainly relate to weyrlings being stuck in that limbo of ungraduated after the rest of their class has graduated because of being underaged…” He faded off there with a smile at the young woman who looked...just so very young to him before continuing with. “As to getting bored easily, well there’s not much that’s boring about being an AWLM. You’ve *always* got something different to do: walking the barracks at night, paperworks on incidents or talks you have with weyrlings, coming up with new lessons or teaching strategies if you feel like some subject isn’t getting covered sufficiently when it should be, actually *talking* with weyrlings...believe me, my door could very well be considered a swinging door with how often I have visitors. And beyond that, each class has their own concerns specific to not only that group of weyrlings but hatchlings as well, so being able to think on your feet is a plus as it’s not often that you’re coming up against the same issue twice, as least not the same issues for the same *reason* because everyone feels differently about Impression. The idea that Impression automatically means ultimate love and adoration, yes on the dragon side that’s true, but it’s become clear that’s not a guarantee on the new weyrling’s side, and that feeling their lifemate’s love can cause problems instead of being accepted and embraced wholly by the weyrling.” Having given himself time to think, as he spoke about her idea and then her history, Ko’ssen then added with a smile at Valesa “I do appreciate the initiative you’ve shown in seeking me out, as I *do* actually need additional AWLMs for this next clutch but haven't put out notice yet. And, while I didn’t have a chance before to iron out all the details about how a mentorship for AWLMs in training should go, the idea isn’t a bad one at all. I’m thinking, getting paired with a longer term AWLM, shadowing them to learn the ropes and see what all the duties of an AWLM are like, for 6 months before the trainee get’s promoted to full AWLM following a review of their mentorship and the trainee not making any colossal mistakes. And, of course, like you mentioned if the trainee feels at any point that they aren’t a good fit as an AWLM, they are free to return to the Wings and whatever craft they were working on before.” “So, keeping in mind that there’s still details that need to be fleshed out fully about a mentorship program for AWLMs-in-training, I would welcome you as the first trainee if I haven't already put you off completely by the descriptions I've given." Here, Ko'ssen's lips turned up in a small smile before continuing with "That’s, of course, baring getting a chance to look over your file just to see if there’s any issues that would drastically prevent you from joining the WLM team, which if your file accurately reflects you as the motivated young woman sitting in front of me I don’t foresee any problems. It’s just that with this clutch and it’s twin golds I need to make sure I do things by the book, you understand I hope.” Ko’ssen’s final words, the offer with the condition of getting a chance to check out her file, he hoped didn’t sound harsh or off-putting to the young woman. As he wanted to be clear that he *was* offering her a position as an ‘AWLM-in-training’. He just also had to follow protocol and couldn’t just accept anyone as an AWLM, especially with 2 gold weyrlings soon to be in the barracks, and that he hoped she understood his explanation.

Kalain shrunk in on himself. He felt like he was disappointing Tam by not saying anything. Fecked if he did, fecked if he didn't.

Tamalak shrugged. Must be a different girl...maybe one of the female wher handlers. Though he hadn't seen Kalain making goo-goo eyes at anyone. So, probably not a girl at all. Just something else. "Well, I'm not going to push you. But if you ever decide you want to talk to me, you know where my bunk is." Tamalak lay back on the bed they were sitting on, crossing his hands behind his head. ~~Velcro~~ Hook-and-Loop Baby (jp: Cremsden, Cuylar)
Aaron
Cremsden hadn’t been kidding about the teething baby. But he also hadn’t quite been expecting this either. He’d thought the Creche lady was looking a little fraught when he came to collect Arden. The sound of the boy howling had set up instant alarm drums (never ever far where Cremsden was concerned when the baby was in the Creche) but she had assured him that no, everything was fine, it was just maybe probably likely those teeth were coming through. At least Arden had settled to a low grizzle once Cremsden was holding him, though he was still looking pink-cheeked and generally upset with the world. He stayed grizzling as long as Cremsden held him. The whimpers turned up to an ear-splitting yell however if he even considered putting the baby down. Bitey was considering the baby with a newfound respect - anything which could make that amount of noise had earned it - when Cuylar arrived. "Oh," said Cuylar as he saw Cremsden. "Uh oh. Looks like somebody's face hurts," he added softly with a sad face for the baby. "How are we doing?" he asked. “I think it’s just teething. Do you think it’s just teething?” All of Cremsden’s Healer instincts seemed to get overridden by this one time I saw a baby something awful happened to when it came to his own son. He examined his small son anxiously. “No fever.” "Well, that was what I assumed," said Cuylar with a gentle smile. "If there's no fever, it isn't likely to be much else, is it?" He was no childhealer, but he knew the basics. And he had even learned a bit of what he knew firsthand from Arden. "You look worse off than he does." “Well, I hate it when he’s ill,” Cremsden admitted. “And it looks like we’re going to have a fun night. I suspect staying over will not be something you want to do.” He jogged the baby gently, soothing him back down to whimpers. “And-- shards, I was coming with you wasn’t I? Fe--uh.” He swallowed the curse before it could escape. "He's gonna be OK; he'll forget all about it. You, on the other hand…" Cuylar gave Cremsden a sympathetic smile. "I guess we'll just have to arrange another witness. Any ideas on who I should ask?" “Ugh. Let me think. Stick the klah pot on?” Cremsden requested. “It’s not that I can’t do it with one hand, it’s just I worry he’ll snatch at something.” He carried Arden over to a chair, making vague soothing noises as he did. “C’mon kiddo, just grow them a bit faster and you’ll feel much better.” "You don't have to apologize for asking me to put the klah on," Cuylar chuckled. He put the pot on to boil and then joined Cremsden while he waited for the steamy whistling. “OK. I’d go for young and female, they seem less likely to scare him off,” Cremsden said after a moment’s thought. “And not one of the Candidates, there’s too much risk he’d get jumpy at that I think. Find Aru or Alyx I’d say. You know what you’re doing?” "I always feel like I'm winging it, Cremsden," Cuylar laughed. "What advice do you have? This isn't a great time for me to mess things up." He would probably ask Alyx to come with him, but if Cremsden had pointers… “Okay.” He sat forward a little, still rocking Arden, trying to keep his voice in that soothing cadence as he spoke. “You’re basically documenting, yeah? Tch, tch, no crying, hush now-- it might not be needed but if it’s who you think it is-- sshh shh then -- then he’s from Fort and he’s a sneaky old bu.. Eh, a sneaky old man so you want to cover your back in case it gets political.” Cuylar nodded. Covering his back should have been second nature after Fort, but being at Arolos for so long had brought back some of his more trusting nature from before. "So, once the two of us have both seen it, we go to K'ren? Or what? He did ask me not to tell. He's not going to be any less worried about retaliation than before, so if I go anywhere, we need to be sure that it's actually going to result in him returning to retirement." “Write it up first. Everything you can, every single mark, every detail of how bad it is -- shells, draw a diagram if you can,” Cremsden said, rubbing circles in his son’s back. “Get whoever you have with you to read it and initial every part - and do me a favour and make sure they read it. They’re incredibly trusting when they’re still wet behind the ears.” Cuylar nodded. He should have done all that the first time. It sounded like something a journeyman ought to have thought of. But it was still the same day. It would not have healed any more since the morning. "Alright. I'll let him know that I'm going to be keeping track of how fast it's healing. For Healer reasons. I don't want him getting spooked over it. I don't think Alyx will mind going with me every time I see him… but then, I don't need to re-diagram it every time. I can just as easily tell him that's only once every seven days and do it again when they're back from the trip." “Once is fine unless he adds marks.” Cremsden grimaced at that. “I’m hoping not, but..” "Eesh. Faranth forbid," said Cuylar. "Well, I'll certainly be keeping an eye out for that. What else?" he asked. “Once you’ve got that you take it to K’ren and it all starts being taken over by people who get paid more than you,” Cremsden said. “What you’re guarding against mostly is.. I’d bet on my last wineskin that the moment it goes in he’ll claim it wasn’t that bad. That he gave the boy a few gentle taps as a joke or something. They always do.” "It was definitely quite a bit more than a few gentle taps," Cuylar nodded. "I… I should be better ready next time something like this happens to document it. I was too ready to let him go about his business because he didn't want anyone to tell what happened." “It was your first time, you were a bit shocked.” Cremsden shrugged. “I’ll be honest, I might have a moment where I start moving automatically at that stuff now but.. I don’t particularly want you to get to that point. If cases here stay far and few between enough that you need refreshers.. Let’s not feel like changing that.” "Right," Cuylar nodded. He appreciated the reassurance, but he was not going to let himself forget this. He was going to make it right, so there was no need to beat himself up about it. "Can I get you anything?" he asked. “Klah, if it’s brewed, please. We might need it tonight.” Arden seemed to be calming a touch but Cremsden suspected that wouldn’t last through putting it down. “Look, think about what you’re going to tell whoever you take. You need to give them a bit of warning not to freak out, but they’re there solely as a witness - to say “yes, what he says he saw was correct”. What you don’t want is to be accused of priming them in advance so they see what they expect to see.” "Oh! Shells. Sorry." Cuylar returned to the klah pot and poured two mugs. "I'd forget my head if it wasn't screwed on, as they say…" When he returned with the klah, he sat down, sipped, and nodded. "So I won't tell them exactly what they're looking for. Just what you said. They're a witness, but keep a straight face." “I mean, once you’re done, you can talk much more freely and underline confidentiality a few dozen times,” Cremsden said. “Not that I think you’ll have a problem with either of those two. They’re sensible kids.” And not exactly kids any more, but Cremsden had yet to notice that part. "I understand." Cuylar nodded. He was almost as inclined to think of them as kids. After all, he was still just an apprentice himself, and he was in his 30s. "Want me to bring you anything back from the middle of nowhere?" he grinned. Cremsden made a face “Magic sleepy baby powder? No wait. Can Elphith ask Margana to bring dinner up with her?” "Of course," said Cuylar. "And she likes you enough that she won't even complain." He chuckled. "And I hate to leave so soon, but I probably should have her get started on that now so that I'm done with my klah by the time she makes it up." “Good luck then.” Cremsden offered. “If all else fails, remember there’s always a mysterious fever.” "I'll keep it in my back pocket," Cuylar promised.

Re: Month 10: FF’s First *Between* Lesson ((Attn: Ko’ssen, Virian, & E’thari))
Jerzy Tobin
Taking a breath, Ko’ssen continued with “Now, when you get up in the air I want you to visualize Arolos Point with as much detail as possible. Remember how it was when you saw it just a very short while ago, and put that image in your head. Think of the color, the shape, the relative positions of various things, the edge of the cliff and its angle to the sea. If, once you are in the air again, you feel like you need to take another look at Arolos Point then that’s more than fine. Please let us know and then go take another look so that you feel as prepared as possible. Make sure your image is as clear as possible before you transfer that image to your lifemate for them to then send to us. And then *if* we give you the go-ahead from that image, once you are ready to go *between* let us know before you go.”This was it! The moment that E'thari and Runaath had been waiting for. They'd been practicing hard and long to get to this point, and neither was going to back down now that the time had finally arrived. E'thari had studied Arolos Point carefully, taking in each detail and storing it away so that he'd be able to recall it properly. He did so then, putting as much clarity and detail into it before giving it to Runaath to pass on. The blue did so, and was given confirmation of the visual. It was time. ((Go.)) E'thari told Runaath. Runaath did, and they were immediately enveloped in the absolute dark and cold of between. One. Two. Three... And there they were, above Arolos Point as they should be! Runaath bugled loudly at the success, drowning out E'thari's own cheers. They had done it! -- "Life is NOT a journey to the grave with the goal of arriving safely in a prettily preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways in a shower of gravel and party shards, thoroughly used, utterly exhausted, and loudly proclaiming: "F*** ME, that Rocked!!" -unknown Whizzy: Jerzy Aim: Yue146

Re: Of Sound Mind? (Attn: Torrela/Namieh)
Smart alec that she was, the girl rolled her eyes at the thought these cards could hold some relation to herself. What a joke! She wasn't some fancy lady holding a bright glowstone any more than she was a robed lord with a cart. Inwardly, Namieh felt conflicted about the feelings this card's illustraion evoked, her eyes fixated on the darkness behind the woman rather than the light she held. "That's creepy," she commented with a squint. "All those bones and stuff behind her, clinging to her legs. Why's she watching that bright thing when she's got all that nasty stuff on top of her dress?" Scrunching her nose, Nami looked away. "She needs a hair brush."

Kalain jumped at the snap of the fingers. "N...n...no," he stammered, blushing hard. "It's not her. But I don't think this is something I can talk to you about. I'll get over it. I promise."

Re: Isn't Arolos meant to mean surprise? {Jaseto, T'rif, any}
sailyn2
"Ah, yes, there is a difference between having one gold and two," T'rif said. The two golds will likely compete and try to one-up each other, which could potentially be very dangerous."

Re: Sooo did you just not like me? {M'gil, T'rif}
sailyn2
T'rif was on the other side of the door doing paperwork. It seemed lately he was either counseling a Candidate or he was doing paperwork about counseling that Candidate. A lot of Candidates were having issues after the run on the Hatching Sands and the tightening of the rules. "Come in," he called loudly.

Re: It seemed like a good idea at the time! {Petiner, Kassia}

"I know that we're pushing you right now with Foreth being on the Sands," Kassia said. "I appreciate your hard work at a delicate time and always. Keep working with your wher as much as you can. You'll need extra training if you intend to use your wher as a guard. Did you get him from the Wherhall?"

Re: Twisted Logic (ATTN: Nyzara/Zy'fen)
Amy Frazey
(OOC- sorry it took me so long to answer)
Zy'fen gave a bitter chuckle. "I can't eve take care of myself. I can't take care of Nerenth. Other people have to bathe and oil him now. How would I take care of a demanding new flit hatchling?" Then Zy'fen shifted the conversation off himself, to Nyzara. "How do you cope with your...disability?" He was interested in her answer, thinking maybe it would help him.
