Almira smiled to herself, and was thinking about making a pocket for Dahlia, like the one Lerian had on his shirt for Star. That way her hands would be free, but Dahlia could still sleep and be safe. "Looks like you already thought of everything." She nodded at the bag, assuming it had their lunch in it. She didn't have much trouble keeping up with his near jog, but shifted Dahlia to the crook of her arm so she'd have at least one hand free. "Mmm, I like the smell of citrus."

Lerian grinned widely, and ran back the way he'd come, grabbing up a bag he'd packed with a decent lunch of loaves of bread, a chunk of cheese, and some left over meat from before. Slinging it over his shoulder, he waved a hand towards a slight path through the brush.

"Come on then, there's a great place to have lunch, just before we get there. There's even a citrus tree."  Lerian set off at a brisk pace, but not quite running. Sandy, as the boy ducked under a limb dropped off his shoulder and flew ahead caroling happily.

Swimming wasn't quite a bath, but Zy planned on staying out of the water. ((Go fishing with Robith if you like. I'll just lay on the grass and watch.)) Zy stepped back after he removed the flight straps, and sat down on a patch of soft grass. "Yeah, you have a point there. I think maybe I'll lay back and take a nap while you splash around."

Truth be told- if the ground didn’t get so hot, he would have discarded the boot a while ago.

That wasn't a suggestion he'd gotten often.  Plus he'd been with Vofali for so long that he'd not really thought about it before, now though it did feel like it wouldn't be too bad an idea.  "Gladly!"  Kl'ryn said after he'd thought about it for a moment.

"I..." she trailed off for a moment, seemingly unsure. Yes she could swim, was actually rather good at it. Just wasn't something she'd been expecting to do. But doing was not always a bad thing. And with her being off work for a bit, she'd need things to keep her busy.

"I know how to swim." Then Ardy on her shoulder, decided that yes, water was good, water always made his pet happy, he cheeped at her firmly, poked her cheek with his head in his no nonsense way and looked to the water. Alyx turned her green eyes on the little flit for a moment, raising an eyebrow at his attitude, but was not in the mood to put up much of a fight over it.

"Want to go for a swim? If you can, I mean. If you can't, I could show you."

When his father had taken lame from the bad fall, his brothers and sister and himself had all taken turns in their own way to distract his mother from the grief of seeing her husband broken.

Maybe he was doing that now.

Teyra couldn't help herself, she giggled at his expression. It was a very familiar one after all.

"Sorry, sorry," she breathed in between giggles. "It's just my mother used to say that to me all the time. I was always her wild child."

Stakarth hadn't been aware that it was becoming a contest, but a wave contest? That sounded like fun to her. And certainly wasn't approaching the line of being a proper little green lady.  ((I can do better. But you first!))

Lali flipped his wings closed over his back. As if trying to get the last word about the subject.

Teyra closed her eyes, ignoring the scolds. She wasn't a little girl anymore, and sometimes Lali didn't seem to realize that. But he was a good flit, and well trained other than his scolding. She swam a little closer, she was good at treading water, she had gotten used to it a long time ago as she'd always been pretty slight, and when others were still on the sand, she was not.

Stakarth, well she had no such reservations and splashed right into the lake. Proud as could be. Once she was mostly submerged, a smallish blue flit appeared above the pair, chittering at both of them in a most disapproving fashion. If a dragon could be said to roll her eyes, the skinny little green did so. She ducked her head under the water and blew air out as bubbles at the scolding blue.

Teyra, who actually could, did roll her eyes, then looked over at T'od. "Yea they have all kinds of scents, even some kinda piney ones. And don't mind Lali, he's been my protector for ages and doesn't much like when Stakarth and I go getting all dirty."

T'od couldn't fault his logic, which was no surprise,so he agreed and the pair winged their way down to the lake. One of their preferred spots was already taken by a number of splashing and cavorting young dragons, so they went a little further than normal. Coming down by a green pair, whose names T'od wasn't sure of, he waved anyway as he removed Awsonth's harness.

"Lovely day for it, isn't it?" he called across to the green's rider.

Odds might be good that he wouldn't be when he saw the acid burns on the side of C'fers to face, but it was worth an attempt.

That wasn't a suggestion he'd gotten often.  Plus he'd been with Vofali for so long that he'd not really thought about it before, now though it did feel like it wouldn't be too bad an idea.  "Gladly!"  Kl'ryn said after he'd thought about it for a moment.

Perhaps if Tareg hadn’t been ready to jump out of his skin, he would have corrected Cremsden. Instead he offered a small smile at Ishixi.
“Searching implies his dragon is a Searchrider.” Tareg answered. “Me da was a Rider. His blue always said I’d be a good rider too.” He glared at Cremsden, body tight with want to run but can’t.
So instead he forced himself to breathe, and to uncurl a little, the scissors still clenched in his hand up his sleeve a reassurance.

"Not your Da out there then?" Cremsden said casually, kneeling to get a better look at the injury. "Ishixi, I hate to ask but would you mind taking notes? Reckon in about five minutes I'm going to be all over numbweed and at that point juggling everything is a pain." He started to unlace the boot with careful fingers. "This is going to need to come off. We'll keep it in one piece if we can -- I know boots cost, don't worry! -- but shout if that's hurting and we'll look at other options."

As soon as Cremsden left the room, Tareg was up and exploring. He looked everywhere- giving a low whistle as he found a cabinet of sharp and shiny. It didn’t take long for one to disappear up his sleeve and he curled up as small as he could on the chair, his ankle protesting as he did. The weight of the sharp and shiny in his sleeve was reassuring, and he pulled his hands into the sleeves to better feel for it.

Maybe this was a bad idea, he thought, as the second healer entered and he eyed her warily. At least she wasn’t drunk.

“Hi.” He finally answered her. He did not like being here. His mama would- no. She doesn’t matter. He wasn’t going back.
“I’m Tareg.”

"Right." And Cremsden was only a couple of minutes behind. "Okay, youngster -- Tarin is it? This is Journeywoman Ishixi, Tarin and I'm Journeyman Cremsden, yeah? So, if you've never seen a Healer what we're going to do today is give you a nice thorough check over to make sure there's nothing nasty hiding to trip you up later and get that ankle -- is it your ankle or foot that hurts? - sorted out for you. He snapped his fingers and grimaced. "And I forgot to ask - did that bluerider who came in with you search you? We might as well do your check up before the Hatching now if that's needed."

OOC: Thought I'd give us a post or two before klah arrives.

“I’m Chyltas” she answered, pushing her tight curls away from her face in frustration even as she eyed the other girls heads with a sort of jealous awe.
She gave a wry little grin and waved her hand at her left eye “sorry about almost falling on you” she tilted her head at Ishkana. “I’m still adjusting to not being able to see as good.”

What if no one wanted to partner with her?
She saw another girl looking around and smiled hopefully at her.
At least she'd redone her braids the night before so she didn't look scruffy.

"Yeah but it was pretty epic," Ishkana reminded her. "I mean, really, an entire bowlful!" She laughed at the memory, but it had been unpleasant at the time. There had been major repercussions too, people slipping and injuring themselves, her uncle so furious that he might have beaten Jerronila if he'd known it was her. As it was, Ishkana had taken the blame and the punishment. She had done everything she could, in the past, to try and shield Jerronila from nasty stuff like that.

“You do eat before you go to bed right’’ Ishixi frowned, “it’s important you take care of yourself.”  She didn’t mean to lecture or worry about someone she just met but she was a caretaker by nature.  “Well hopefully they have klah.”  That showed him her priority, a klah addict, it all had to do with studying healing growing up.

T'od liked the fact that she'd snorted instead of a titter or giggle. It made her out to be a woman who knew how to have fun, not just laugh out of politeness or in order to please. "What do you normally have for lunch?" he asked as they progressed. "D'you prefer to eat a big meal now, or later?"

An amused snort came from her as she took his arm, her gaze wandering over him before she snapped it back to the hall in front of her.  Hopefully he didn’t notice the slight flush that touched her cheeks.  Part of her couldn’t help but ponder how many times he had hit his head on his dragon but she wasn’t going to ask because that would be rude.  “Why thank you kind sir.” She smiled up  at him.

He treated Ishi to an outrageous wink, even as he offered her his arm.

She still looked a little dazed. T'od was pretty sure it wasn't his good looks that had shocked her, then her explanation made things plain. "So you run into people on a regular basis do you, journeyman?" he mused with a raised eyebrow, although the grin on his face indicated he wasn't annoyed. "By all means, as I'm headed there myself. It's this way." And he bowed to the healer, gesturing for her to walk in the direction he was originally going.

I doubt me running into you would hurt you but it’s a habit.” She stepped out of his way so he could keep going where he was going to. “Umm do you know how I get to the dining hall? I seem to have gotten myself turned around.”  Maybe he would help her before he left.

The someone apologised and he looked down, seeing a woman. "Hey, my fault as well. The glows are a bit dim here aren't they?" He grinned at her; she didn't look familiar. "Are you alright?" He knew that Turns of riding Awsonth and woodcrafting before that had made him pretty solid. Perhaps not as painful to run into as a wall, but still.

Ishixi sighed as she walked through the corridors.  Apparently, this was MEANT to lead her towards the dining hall but she had an awful feeling that she had made a wrong turn somewhere along the way.  Ishi had only just moved to Arolos Weyr and was still trying to work out where she was going.  She had successfully worked out how to get to her ground weyr to the healers but other than that she was going blind.  Normally she wouldn’t even try and head to the dining hall but she was hungry and she hadn’t made herself anything.

“This is stupid.”  She muttered to herself as she rounded the corner and felt herself running into something very solid.  Well someone very solid.  “I’m so sorry.”  She flushed as she stood back and looked upwards.  Why was everyone taller than her?
