Re: A Unceremonious Arrival (S'ryll/Kassia)

TrueTricia

}{Of course they will.  You're the Queen.  That isn't surprising.}{  He left it at that.  It was, after all, her birthright.  That being said, his own vanity prevented him from doing anything less than exiting the water with a flourish, shaking off his large wings one at a time, admiring the way they glinted in sunlight.  The natural pale marking across the back looked initially like Threadscoring, but it was all tonal.  }{Is there room near you in the sun, my Queen?}{  He'd yet to learn her name.  No matter.  They weren't going anywhere after all.

S'ryll gave her an easy smile, the kind he normally didn't use unless he was having fun in the engagement.  Otherwise, his facial expressions were rather subtle, but he was having a bit of fun here.  Still though, he reminded himself to be cautious.  He was new here, and she held the advantage.  Except she didn't know him either, and that was his advantage.

He leaned in a little closer, almost as if he was going to tell her a secret.  "Well then, my dear Sar, you're quite a little valuable trove of information, aren't you?  So what should I know on my first day here?  And what are those funny little beasts behind you?  They look like the whers I've read about in my studies as a beastcrafter before I Impressed up North."  He'd never laid eyes on a Southern wher before, and there were some strange looking ones that didn't quite line up with the descriptions in his studies.  But it had been Turns since he'd really practiced his Craft, outside of a little racing here and there.  Runners were more predictable than people, and certainly he'd enjoyed the coin racing had earned him as a youngster.

The instant those cabinets opened, Luicion's head snapped around eagerly. Sarati's words were music to his ears and the young man cheered as he grabbed his first round.

"Cheers to ya, Sarati! Health to yer dragon an' Threadless skies to ya!" With that, he knocked back his drink with a grin.

Rennitz had been delighted to see her old friend when Sarati had walked in looking like a firework. She was still so happy for Sarati at having Impressed even while she still Stood waiting. Green eyes tracked the young woman curiously as she had the alcohol opened to everyone, eyebrows raising in surprise at Sarati's generosity. Everyone? Rennitz watched Luicion predictably take Sarati up on the offer and down a glass of booze and shook her head. That boy... As for herself, Rennitz opted for a glass of white wine and sat back to watch.

Meanwhile, Sonnellion looked at Luicion more with distaste and a bit of shock. That boy! He was a candidate, why didn't he act like one? Ah for shame. Sonnellion opted to keep to his juice, not wanting to risk his place in the Weyr, thank you.

I Still Can't Belive You're a Mother atten: Shalia/Sarati

Sarati didn't always get a whole lot of time away from the Hold, but when she did she tried to catch up with Shalia. Things had been busier than usual of late on both their ends, but Sarati was determined to spend time with her sorta sister/sorta ex-love/sorta best friend. They arrived in the Weyr and Sarati climbed off her green.

((Kabelth, see if Shalia will meet me for a pinic.))

((Do I have to?)) the green grumbled.

((Yes!))

For a moment Sar thought that her green wouldn't do it, then the green called out, ((Mine would like to have a pinic with you.))

Re: The Art of Dragonhealing (Ambrelli/Yiyu)

Ambrelli motioned to the girl.  "Come on in.  I won't bite," she wondered if the girl was put off because of who she was, or the girl was just shy to start with.  "What's your name, girl?"

She motioned to the bench off to the side of the table.  "Go on and have a seat."  The brown chirped at Ambrelli and she nodded.  The flit hopped down to the table and walked towards the girl, tilting his head at her.

"Thank you, sir." Talena nodded to him. "I'm glad that you stopped by, honestly. This talk has done quite a bit to bolster my spirit and renew my vigor to work with the candidates. I think I'll feel at home here in no time."

((OOC: Okay to end henever you are :) ))

Re: I Remember You! (Ran'omi, J'zat)

"Tetsuith will copy him... once she wins." Ran'omi grinned lovingly at his dragons as his words came true. Tetsuith barreled past Meisteth and erupted out of the water, wing fingers smacking the surface.

{{I win, I win! I'm the fastest water dragon on Pern!}}

"It depends on which side you're on. Since you have a blue, of course you'd be a chaser. Chasing fills you with incredible power and makes you feel invincible. You feel like a strong hunter, though it's not as powerful and all-consuming as a dragonflight. It's still stronger than a firelizard flight, which just gets one hot and bothered at times." Diagir tried to keep his words civil and appropriate while still telling the truth. "As the female, it's entirely different. I only know from a gold's perspective, but then it's like you rule the world, you can run forever and ever and no one can stop you. It's... incredible, actually."

"We're survived a lot and come out the better for it," T'rif said proudly. "I wish there were a lot fewer disasters, but there's nowhere else on Pern I'd live. I hope you end up finding Arolos to your liking."

"Fuck yes," Sahari said to herself, sitting alone at one of the tables, already nursing her second cup of wine. "Finally."

T'rif's answer deeply pleased Talena and her eyes showed it. She was actually starting to like this man; at the very least he had her respect. Hearing about their Weyrwoman's sexuality did bring a bit of a blush to the tips of her ears but she didn't verbally react. Nodding, she listened to the list of disasters and gave a low whistle. "Talk about a nightmare. That this Weyr's survived such calamities definitely shatters that opinion up North about this place being weak. Thread tornadoes, Faranth's saddle. Well. I'm glad I transferred down then, to help these kids prepare for nightmares like that. As if regular Threadfall wasn't enough."

Re: Sacharrine Saturated Nightmare (Talena, and T'rifoshe)

"We squash that thinking hard around here," T'rif said. "If you hear it, then step in. We make it very clear that anyone standing, including girls standing in gold clutches, can Impress any eligible color and if they have a problem with that, then they can't Stand. We're in a Weyr where ride a brown, or even sometimes a bronze and to like men. Kassia likes woman. So I hope you're okay with that. As for tragedies, you name it, it's happened. Earthquakes, floods, attacks, injured golds, thread tornadoes. Arolos has seen just about everything here except blizzards. I imagine will get that some day, too."

Re: Speaking To The Sun (atten: Kassia, Foreth)

"I wasn't particularly worried about you," Kassia assured him.

Brogan rumbled at him in acknowledgement.

"Nice to meet you, Sunstreath. I like your name."

Foreth just grunted, less impressed.

Re: A Favorite Topic With a New Face (Diagir/Ziya, Maglor/Glaurung)

Ren

{Gone?} Ziya was confused as she looked Maglor up and down. {'Rung human still have leg, yes?}

Diagir nodded solemnly. "I see. I suppose that I can understand to a point. My brother, I think I said, Impressed green. Father wasn't too thrilled since, as he put it, the bastard left the craft to be the nobody of dragonriders. Let me say, after the amount of greenrides I've met here, I wholly disagree with that statement in general, but I still spit on my brother's boots. What should matter, though, is that you're happy, Maglor."

Re: Sacharrine Saturated Nightmare (Talena, and T'rifoshe)

Ren

"One thing I don't get is how some candidates I've spoken to are hung up on only Impressing one color or another. I can understand girls only Standing for golds from a tradition standpoint, but surely these kids know it's all up to the dragons, right? Or is all the talk I hear just along the lines of wishful thinking and they all don't really believe they'll Impress bronze and gold?" Hearing about the disasters and resulting traumas, Talena tilted her head and squinted a bit. "There's... You said disasters plural. What sort of things happen here, other than that huge tragedy with the egg and High Reaches? I can imagine things like bad weather, but... is there more?"

"Hurt *you*?" I'des was shaking his head in a negative almost before the Weyrwoman had finished speaking. "No way in Faranth."

He paused, nodded to the wher, if awkwardly. "Hello Brogan." A pause, and then he was sighing, shaking his head. "I think Sunny would mind."

{{My name is Sunstreath.}} the bronze responded, deliberately broadcasting to both his rider and Foreth's.

"Yeah, that's Brogan. He's my guard. Don't try to hurt me and he won't hurt you." She glanced around at the plethora of flits. "If you want a flit and your dragon doesn't mind, it won't take much to get one. If you wait for a Gather you can always buy a smarter one from Callamere, too."

Foreth accepted the fish with a grunt, but her eyes whirled with pleasure.

Nadia sat in the corner of the Dining  Hall, absently twisting a lock of her long Auburn hair. She loved to come in and just people watch when she had the free time. She was dressed in a pair of breeches and a top that  complimented her eyes and figure.

The small golden-eyed rider watched Sarati, a curious expression on her face. What was about to happen was a great deal more interesting then the cup in front of her on the table.

When she heard the call for drinks, she broke into a grin.

Re: Speaking To The Sun (atten: Kassia, Foreth)

Was this a prank? Or was he really just standing here, talking to the Weyrwoman like it was no big deal? None of the golds at Ista had ever shown an interest in Sunstreath, after all. I'des gulped, trying and failing to relax. "Yes, Weyrwoman." he answered, and then promptly kicked himself inside for sounding like an idiot.

"I'm lovely- I mean, it's lovely- I mean, ah, I'm well. Thank you, Weyrwoman." I'des was pretty sure his blush was visible, even under tanned skin, at this point.

"That's a wher, right?" he added, with a nod toward the beast. "I keep seeing'em, and flitters, all over the place. I kind of want one- a flitter, I mean. At least, if Sunny would let my attention go anywhere else."

{{You're Mine.}} the bronze only huffed, splashing back to shore to lay a large fish down in front of the golden queen.
