Aru glanced over from Kyrel to Z'go and finally looked to Cremsden and nodded, "If you need anything just let me know."  As if an apprentice could do much.  She stepped away and beckoned Kyrel to follow her to the classroom in question.  Once they were out of earshot, the young woman let out a heavy sigh, "I hate that guy."

Z'go remained with his arms crossed, waiting for the apprentices to leave, doing his best to ignore the pain emanating from his backside.  When they were finally gone he turned to Cremsden, "The mouths on those two."

Ysolde's fury was in full flow now as she thrashed and kicked out at the Guard. "A couple of thieves, that's who! I know I've seen you hanging around here before!" That was what her brain was telling her made the most sense. As she got a proper look at Kassia's face, the notes of memory chimed in. Yes, she was definitely familiar, very much so. Who knew how long she had been skulking around!

When Ysolde had started shrieking, it wasn't Nayari who heard first, but Vecna. The gold firelizard was prowling in the rafters as per usual, looking for a combination of insects to eat and Candidates to spy on. And with a cacophony like that going on, who could miss it. Darting overhead as she took in the scene beneath her, Vecna had erupted into Nayari's office with peeling bugles and trumpets. Initially, all she got was two adults and what was blatantly a Candidate. And then a Candidate being grabbed at? She hadn't hesitated, bursting out of her office and half striding, half jogging down the cots until she came up behind Kassia and Ysolde.

"What is the meaning of all this!"

Kyrel resisted the urge to further antagonize the pained rider, amusing though it might have been. With Aru for an audience, he was certain he could have nailed some biting one-liners, but Cremsden's presence served as enough of a deterrent.

Still scowling at Z'go and after a moment of hesitation as if still deciding whether to obey, he ultimately chose to follow Aru's lead.

"Right, if you're all done having fun at my expense..."  growled the brownrider.  He focused his attention on the journeyman, deciding the two apprentices weren't worth his time.  "Aye, and I'd like to request a private examination.  Far from these two pieces of... bubbly pies."

Catching glimps of Kassia's distinctive hair struck a chord of memory as she tumbled headlong to the ground, ignoring the burning sting as she skinned her elbows. But in her shock and fury, her brain couldn't calmly put two and two together. No, it insisted that this person must have been skulking around before and now, she had caught them in the act. "Thief!" She shrieked again, starting to get to her feet again, cursing for the first time that she didn't have a firelizard to go and alert someone to come and help.

She wasn't aware of the Guard until a shadow loomed over and a strong pair of arms grabbed for her. "Get away!" Now her voice was tinged with an edge of fear as she tried to wriggle out of reach. Grabbing at her? Were they going to carry her away? "Thieves" Kidnappers!"

There were few people that understood what the leaders went through. Even the other golds besides the Weyrwoman were somewhat sheltered. The people who had the full brunt of it numbered in a couple of handfuls in the history of Arolos. Kassia was one of them and currently one of her mates, M'gal. When she had a headache again after a problem with tithes, she knew who she had to turn to.

She headed out of her office with Brogan at her side and headed for M'gal's office for some much needed commiserating and maybe distraction.

No, whoever this person was, they couldn't just leave alone. As she spotted them lean over and pick up, out of all things, her dragon, Ysolde felt a white-hot blaze of fury tear through her and she erupted out from behind the wall with an enormous shout.

"Thief!" She bellowed, although it was more than a little tinged with the shriek outrage. "Get your filthy hands off you disgusting scrounger! Thief!" She was sure there would be someone who had heard her, be that other Candidate or even better, a Candidatemaster. They would see this person out on their ear! Racing toward her cot, Ysolde did the only thing she thought she could. She put her weight behind her, hands outstretched and aimed squarely at the mysterious person's side. The intention was to bulldoze into them and maybe, knock them to one side. If nothing else, even a stumble would slow them down. A sliver of doubt worried about damaging the piece that was being held but right now, even that didn't matter. What mattered was getting it back.

Re: Now I have ALL the friends! (Tyne/R'zzon)

"No," Tyne said matter of factly, breaking from her role of adoring mother wherry to look up at R'zzon. "I have ten. Aaru belongs to Bobbin. She only listens to me because I can hear her. And because Bobbin tells her to." That she was now the owner of an absurd amount of firelizards didn't register as anything other than absolute bliss. "I can hear all of them, together..." she babbled happily. "... They're making the space smaller. Myrandith's space. Oh, R'zzon..." Tyne signed dreamily, letting herself indulge in the feelings filling her mind as though it were a warm blanket on the coldest of winters. "... I can't explain it, I can't."

The giddy childishness was slipping away slightly, replaced by the more lucid tones that Tyne had been beginning to display more and more of late. "... My head," she went on to explain. "... It's not so quiet. So empty. Like there's patches of colour and emotion that are just covering the space. It's still her shape... her shadow. But it's like part of it is being filled...." Tyne paused, frowning. "... No," she said suddenly, a stern note to her voice. "... not filled in. She's always there underneath. It's... like a blanket. A blanket of noise that's the right kind of noise." It was so hard to explain and she wrung her hands slightly as consternation flickered over her face. She struggled to understand it herself because she could always feel her gold there. Could always feel how Myrandith's presence was meant to be there. But the tiny flashes of emotion and image without a defined, individual voice... they were a patchwork blanket of comforting similarity without attempting to replace or forget the individual that had been there first.

Three... four... five... six... seven.. eight...nine.

Tyne looked nothing but proud of herself and Bobbin stuck her head into the top of the basket, whistling softly at the sleepy babies, a bizarre echo of the way in which Tyne cooed and fussed over her little brood.

At the beach! And they're Bobbin and Cairn's friends too!" Never mind that Cairn wasn't entirely sure about how he felt about the new little interlopers, Bobbin was positively infatuated, no doubt her own maternal streak as a gold feeding from Tyne's own adoration.

She reached for R'zzon's arm, pulling at his sleeve to pull him closer to the table. "You need to be quiet, you'll scare them. They're sleeping." The words were punctuated by barely contained giggles as she eased the lid of the basket halfway off. "Wakey wakey" she cooed into the basket, pulling the folds of a blanket aside to reveal two tiny firelizards, one brown and one green, fast asleep and their bellies distended from their recent breakfast.

Cairn and Bobbin were firelizards. Firelizards were small dragons. Dragons were always wanting to eat. Therefore, the basket must have food in it. He nodded, pleased with himself that he'd been able to think rationally.

{{Firelizards are not small dragons, thank you very much,}} Panagath said. {{I'm insulted that you would ever think that.}}

Brandishing the basket high, she jostled past him into his weyr, practically bouncing with ever step. Like arrows from a bow, Bobbin and Cairn shot after her, settling on the table that Tyne gently set her basket on and huddling around it. It was clear that both flits were on high alert, heads twitching every which way as though assessing the entire room for any possible dangers.

"I made friends! All on my own!" And she was so achingly pleased about that fact. It radiated from her as she puffed up her slim frame and an innocence seemed to ripple from her. It wasn't the strange, childlike Tyne she had been, rather, it was the image of someone who was surrounded by a bubble of innocent naivety. A bubble that kept all of the bad things away. Besides, she was so giddy with all the new noise in her head that it made her feel drunk and the feeling of sated baby flits in her head made her feel heavy and clumsy like she was wading through water. It was delightful. Feelings in a way that she hadn't thought she would remotely feel every again. Patching up the Myrandith space. Not forgetting it. Just making it more bearable. The story had come out, coaxed between Tyne's distracted thoughts and copious giggles as she bathed and oiled each and every one of her new charges, wrapped in the wonderful cacophony of emotion that flooded her mind and Myrandith's empty space. The sun was barely sunk below the Rim before Idri had found the dragonless woman fast asleep on the couch, exhausted by her day's adventure and snoring lightly.

She had been left there until late into the following morning when Tyne had awoken to the sensation of hunger. Hers and that of nine others. Idri had abandoned her to go to a shift and truth be told, had needed to run away in order to figure out what she was going to do with Tyne. Tyne hadn't cared. No one had told her off and she was so enveloped in new sensations that she drifted along in a bubble of delirious happiness as she spent a blissful two hours tending to her new flock.

There was someone else that she was itching to tell as well. She had tried to make her new friends cling to her like they had yesterday but now, fat and sated they were lazy and snoring. With a "hmph!" she had found something even better, one of the baskets Idri used to organise their laundry. Each little body was tucked into its own nest of a blanket and the basket scooped up as Tyne scampered down the tunnels, trying not to bounce her previous cargo too much. Bobbin and Cairn flew over her, the gold fiercely watching for predators. Her maternal streak had kicked off and then some as Tyne made her way to a familiar door and began rapping on it loudly and persistently.

One final boost, and Margana was on Zlorenth's neck. The blue gently lifted off, which Margana knew was horribly difficult for him. But it was worth it, to not have to walk the distance to the Infirmary.

Zlorenth set down and several Healer apprentices were there to help her off, along with Journeyman Healer Rulynn. "Don't you know babies are supposed to come in the wee hours of the morning?" Ru said as she helped Margana waddle to a room set up specifically for birthing.

"Tell you what---once this kid is old enough to understand, you tell them that," Margana replied.

"Margana?" Cremsden appeared at a run, having being quietly alerted. "K'ren said -- are you sure? It's now?" He sounded torn between excitement and anxiety, sure they were ready but were they *ready*?

"That's enough, Aru." There was a warning in Cremsden's voice. "Here now the pair of you. Scram over to the classroom - Aru, can you run Kyrel through some of the common herbs? It's quiet enough. I'll come by later." And have words on how you did and didn't deal with patients like Z'go.

"You don't want to talk to this one," Aruithil replied, glaring at Z'go, who suddenly felt out numbered.  If the three healers weren't enough, Myri burst from between with a squawk, warning the brownrider to not make her intervene.  "Your brain might turn to dung the longer you're exposed."

"Right, if you're all done having fun at my expense..."  growled the brownrider.  He focused his attention on the journeyman, deciding the two apprentices weren't worth his time.  "Aye, and I'd like to request a private examination.  Far from these two pieces of... bubbly pies."

Re: Taking Advantage ( Namieh / Leodred )

"Only a fool wouldn't at least think about it, I was giving you the benefit of the doubt," he replied, conjuring the fakest smile he could muster.  Watching carefully, he let her go back into the box, his interest piqued enough to be curious and happened to notice the F on the jar as well. "Well?" Leodred looked at her, expectantly.  "Pop one, right?"

He had a guess at what it could be, as in his limited knowledge he could only recall one medical term that started in F.  Not only that, but all these boxes had the stink of redwort on them, so they had to be some healer's stash.

Re: Taking Advantage ( Namieh / Leodred )

"What makes you think I was going to take anything?" Namieh asked, no need to fake the offense she felt. How did he know that? Stupid boy! A lucky guess, she surmised, her proverbial hackles on the rise regardless.

His question made her shrug, transitioning to nonchalant. "Dunno, I only just got a glance at them. Can't really tell until we pop one open though." Unless they were labeled. She bent down and plunged her hand into the box once more, retrieving the simple jar sealed shut with wax. The letter 'F' had been painted on its exterior. "Huh."

Leodred erupted out of the darkness, arriving through one of the tunnel maybe six feet up ahead.  He tried to stop himself but not only ended up skidding but crashing into the wall as well.  Picking himself up off the floor he looked at her, his steel gray eyes wide open, and his chest lunging as his lunged sucked up air.  It took him a moment, but Leodred managed to get himself under control, "Thanks, lost my torch, though I was going to... die down there..."

He decided against mentioning the strange sounds he'd heard.  Could there really be something living deep underneath the Weyr?  No, imposible, someone would know, for sure.  Right?  "Name's Leodred.  What are you doing down here?"

Re: The Greenest Pastures (Green Flit Flight!) (Atten: Any Flit)

Toki had taken to sunning himself on the Weyr's rocks, preferring the way they gathered the day's heat to spots nearer the Harper Haven where His Person stayed. Faceted eyes caught sight of a luminous green streak zipping through the air, her voice an invitation he felt compelled to accept.

The little bronze leaped from his perch, broad wings snapped wide to catch the air and send him rocketing upward after her. Trumpeting in tiny bravado, he answered her call.

Lai, normally a quieter flit, gave a sudden trill, calling, before with a few flaps the glowing green was aloft.
