Leodred entered and paused briefly when he saw the older rider.  Great, he must be so old that even Faranth called him grandfather.  He did his best to hide any frustration.  He showed the older man the token, "I was told I had to bring this in and an ACM would tell me what to do?  I'm Leodred.  Supposed to be a candidate."

Shards, he had her there. Even so, she felt strange. Somehow as though he'd invaded her privacy, in spite of the simple fact that she shouldn't have expected this place to remain her own. Sighing, she leaned back against the wall and studied him.

"I suppose you're right, but might I at least get more than your name?"

"Ah." Well, not quite what he'd expected but not a completely out-of-the-park occurrence for this particular patient. Cremsden nodded. "How long ago was the fight?" he asked. "Any other injuries resulting?"

Re: (Razelth's Clutch) Serenading the Queen: A Montage (ATTN: Razelth, Any)

Val had found what he was looking for: a simple wooden flute. As he held the object in his hands, he thought of his mother and knew he needed to do this. The Candidate made his way back into the area the dragon had made her clutch.

He had never been in the presence of a gold dragon before. Razelth seemed to almost glow to him. She radiated a power that the boy had never known previously, and he responded with the only gesture that made sense to him. He bowed before the magnificent creature.

"My name is Valouran. I am not sure whether I'm worthy of being in your presence or the presence of your eggs, but I wanted to give you a gift." Pulling out his wooden flute, Val sat down and crossed his legs. "This is a song my mother used to play for me to calm me down or help me sleep. I hope you enjoy it."

Putting his lips to the instrument, Valouran began to blow. The melodic tone that filled the air was one of deep emotion. He played this song for his mother and the dragon. While it wasn't perfect, due to his absence of playing for two years, he quickly picked up and remembered the subtle tricks she taught him. After several moments the song had finished. Val looked into the dragon's eyes but could see no inclination of her feelings on the song.

Slowly he stood up and again bowed before departing.

"Thank you again for allowing me this honor."

Re: New kid on the block ( M'ayen / Leodred )

The dragon took off and Leodred watched them go.  With a heavy sigh the candidate grabbed his bag and swung it over his shoulder and made his way into the candidate barracks.  It took him about a quarter of an hour to fin the ACM offices (he had refused to ask for any help).  Once he reached one he knocked on the door and waited to be allowed in to report himself for candidacy or whatever it was that he was supposed to be doing.

"Enter!" A sharp voice called from inside. When the door opened it was to reveal a fairly elderly man behind a desk, staring at the doorway with a faint frown. "Yes?"

Re: Tail-Bone of a Person ( Cremsden / Z'go )

Cremsden had watched the uncomfortable walk and winced in sympathy as Z'go tried to sit down, making his own quick judgement about what Z'go might be in for. "Steady there." And now his tone was almost a sing-song, soothing and calm, not at all the usual rough banter Z'go might usually expect from him. Some things were just habit. "Not a problem, you can stand, or you can lie or your stomach, whichever is more comfortable for talking."

"It's nice to meet you," she said, accepting his slightly grubby hand. She shifted the book under her arm. "I borrowed all of these, so we must take extreme care. Would you like to stay here and a read with me?" It was all she could think of: share the space or be driven out of it. She'd more than once been driven out of a good reading spot just because her elder brothers had had the muscle and meanness to do so.

"Oh! Uhm!" Garatt scrambled to his feet hastily and stuck his hand out to take hers - apparently *this* was what it took to remind him of his manners. "Garatt! Of Berford Hold!"

That rarest expression -- a smile -- emerged, along with an even rarer sound. Yiyu laughed quietly as she accepted the book.

"I'm Yiyu," she proffered a free hand. "You look familiar. Are you a Candidate too?"

"I'm Yiyu."

Garatt blinked at her, resisting the urge to just stick his nose back in the book and ignore her.

"They were just here," he pointed out reasonably. "And I didn't think we were allowed to own bits of space. Except our cots."

"This is my spot and those," she tilted her head at the books, "are mine. I mean...."

Garatt didn't even notice he was being watched for a few minutes. He'd had things he was meant to be doing, but then he'd seen the books and bent to see what they were. And they looked interesting, so the assignment he had been meant to complete had been forgotten as he settled down for five minutes which quickly become thirty. He was happily intent on his reading and when he did look up it was with a faint air of confusion, clearly wondering what she wanted. "Yes?"

Yiyu had discovered a small, uninteresting little niche she liked to with draw to when the bussel of the Weyr became a little to much. She'd hidden a few books there, fully expect them to be their the next day when she returned. And they were, a long with a vaguely familiar face. She stood in the opening to the niche and gazed at the slightly messy boy, wondering what she should do or say.

"Indeed. And to you, who clearly uses only the language expected of the finest Harpers," Cremsden agreed gravely. "Clearly I had to send them away before your ears caught fire from such horrors."
