"Oh?" I'des asked. "What do you paint and draw?" He looked interested, even as he took a bite of his own sandwich finally. "And... if you don't mind my boldness- we could be friends. If you want. Weyrwoman." he added hastily. "I mean, if it would be acceptable to you."

Sarati relaxed as the rider didn't try object and Shalia responded. She leaned into the other woman's touch, wiggling so that the other woman had easier access and turned. She giggled, alcohol heavy on her breath as she brushed her lips across Shalia's.

Asheran worked his jaw soundlessly for a few moments, taking in his sudden change of fortune. Alyx was here, and one of the women at the table had undone a few buttons of her shirt, and now those riders were hugging on each other, and his drink was empty, and Alyx was basically leaning against him. Before he knew what he was doing, he had brought his arm up and settled it around her shoulders with an easy familiarity that would have staggered sober him.

But right now he was thinking good job, arm. And working out what to say to her.

"Hey. You too?"

Such eloquence.

"Sorry about him. I thought he'd have learned a bit when he grew. But poor Fabio, well he never did. He's a handful taking care of. But we manage." Reaching up he ran a hand through his wet hair and looked over to his dragon who seemed to have woken up and was watching them silently. Of course the big blue had his head under the water so all one could really see was his eyes glowing like jewels.

S'ryll held up his flagon of wine, offering to refill the other's cup.  So this strangeness wasn't perfectly normal.  That was reassuring, a semblance of normal.  "Forgive my bluntness.  But how does that work?  Greens can't usually fly a full Fall.  How did you work your way up given your dragon's natural limitations?"

D'vik smiled a little at the byplay between them, but didn't object when Sarati pulled Shalia towards her. Other than the kids, and friendship he had no claim on her and wasn't about to cause a fuss.

Shalia looked a little surprised, but she wasn't going to complain if her former lover wanted to hold her closer.  She happily snuggled a little into Sarati and slipped her free arm around her waist.  And discovered if she moved her hand down far enough she could just rest her fingertipss on some bare thigh.

"Yeah. There's always that." I'des sighed. "I do want a pet, but I'm going to have to wait on bossytail, probably. He knows I do, too. Maybe that'll make him come around." He shrugged. "I don't think he'd eat another draconic, but he might scare it away."

"He's adorable," Yiyu said softly, reaching up to finger comb her hair absently. She was slim and tiny, dwarved by the rider, but more than aware of his attempts to put her at ease. Attempts that were, if she were honest, working.

As D'vik got within range Fabio cheeped and went still. The large man reached towards her hair cautiously, saying "Just hold on a moment, I can see where he's caught a bit better than you can behind your head and all yea?" He still kept his voice soft, his whole body language as unthreatening as it was possible for a man of his stature to manage. But it didn't take him long at all to free Fabio from her hair, the little flit crawled up his naked arm, leaving tiny scratches that he didn't even seem to notice. Before seeming to notice Trometh in the lake. The little flit popped between, and began attacking random suds bubbles, all thoughts of fear vanished, just like that.

"Sorry about that, Fabio...he's a dear but he's not long on brains."

"I was in the Weyrlingmaster's office so often I should have just set a cot up in there." I'des grumbled, but it was good natured. "After so long staring at those walls, it was find ways to make it fun or go stir crazy. I didn't exactly enjoy that old hidebound browner *and* Sunstreath both constantly snipping at me."

A sigh, shaking his head. "...Anyways. What kind of things do you enjoy doing or seeing?"

Sarati couldn't help narrowing her eyes slightly. She knew that Shalia wasn't hers, but that didn't mean she liked sharing her. A trait she'd inherited her from her mother.

"Nice to meet you, too," she said, leaning into Shalia and wrapping her arm tighter around her.

"Well, this is D'vik," Shalia replied probably a little unnecessarily.  She wished she could unbutton her shirt a little, but unfortunately tonight's was a pullover.  "D'vik, this is Sarati, my near-sister."  She turned to the girl edging away and smiled at her.  "They're gorgeous, you'll love them!  I'm gonna be exercising them in a couple of days, you should come watch."    Which was about as close as Kika would ever come to Kassia's golden runners.

F'gan ran a hand through his dirty blond hair as he chuckled. He did not have to be healer trained to know that a drinking bit would lead to embarrassing situations.

But the artist in him was not going to pass up a chance for a new muse.

"Congrtulations." He said, his deep voice matching the sparkle in his dark eyes.

Alyx leaned in for another drink. She didn't remember drinking all the red, but it was certainly gone now. She knew most of these folks by site, if not by close friendship. But after grabbing another drink she sidled over to where Asheran was standing and bumped her shoulder into his casually, "Hey there." Privately she was glad she didn't manage to slur her words. Though looking at her face you'd never know she was having issues.

D'vik nodded  to Sarati, lightly placing a hand on Shalia's shoulder and giving it a squeeze. He knew just how hard things had been there at the end. He'd taken time out to help her whenever he could too. "Nice to meet you finally."

KIka shook her head.  "I'd love to see the horses."  She couldn't believe it, she was partying (this was a party, right) with the WW's daughter and a Lady Holder and had been invited to go see expensive horses.  "Thank you!"

As it got more crowded, she slowly shifted herself to the edges, watching everything going on.  She wasn't used to crowds of strangers.  Back home, she'd been surrounded by people she'd grown up with.  When she'd sailed for Keroon, she'd been alone, but the Hall had provided structure, and a young apprentice didn't mingle with people as ranking as this.  This line crossing was new to her, and when things were new, she preferred to watch initially.

But she sipped her drink, and the warmth of the alcohol slowly spread over her....
