Re: Bronze on Bronze (D'cul, I'des)

"Sharding bossytail just got washed yesterday." I'des grumbled. "But he's not going to let me forget that he talked to Foreth and suddenly his standards are even higher. Well? Can I at least get D'cul's help?" he addressed his bronze.

Sunstreath lowered his head, green eyes scintillating with just a hint of yellow, to regard D'cul intently. Judging him, by the look on I'des' face. And then, regally, he straightened once more.

I'des let out a long sigh. "He says yes. But not to get on his back." the younger rider relayed. "....Sorry."

That still didn't make sense to S'ryll.  Why not put the green in the wing third position?  Why would you ever have a second that could never fly a full Fall?  The concept was foreign to him, and it would take awhile, if ever, for Saere to ever see it's benefits.

"That would never happen where I'm from.  No offense to your leadership intended," he added, remembering that, for all the man was a greenrider, he also outranked Saere right now.  "You could be better than every bronzerider in the Weyr, and I know a few fecks that had the leadership skills of a drunken wherry so I don't think it's automatic in us bronzers, but it wouldn't have mattered.  Your green not being able to fly a full Fall..."  He sipped his own wine.  "Things are different here than I'm used to."  It was a statement, not a judgement.  "Lots of learning to be done..."  His attitude shift was going to also require a spectrum shift, if any color could hold leadership.  "The WW still rides gold though?  Just looking for some familiar reference point..." he said with a jovial grin.

D'vik merely turned to D'cul and shrugged, at least they were both covered, and that was what mattered. He'd just talk to Shalia...later. Tonight he was going to go get yet another shirt and go spend a little time with the twins before turning in.

_________

Alyx blinked a couple times as Shalia threw out the challenge, but really it made sense! She was warm anyways, and a few second later her shirt was off and on the ground. "Well it Is really warm in here! " She giggled and pressed back up against Asheran's side now shirtless.

Re: Old Enough to Know Better ((Attn: S'ryll / Kyrel))

TrueTricia

"I don't give a flying feck if you curse," S'ryll shrugged.  Thonet Hold?  He wasn't familiar with that one, but if it was on this continent, he was unlikely to have ever heard of it anyways.  He saw the kid folding in on himself.  Interesting.  And the kid's stuttering.  Likely he was making an impression on the boy.  There was a part of his ego that was instantly appeased.  Finally, someone that deferred to his rank!  Sure, all he needed to do was hang out with Candidates and they'd fawn all over him.  He hadn't done that since...well since Ardany, but that was because they knew each other before he Impressed.  Any bronzerider who needed an ego boost from children wasn't worth his salt.  They were easy to impress.

But impressing this one a little more an leveraging that for bathing assistance.... worth it.  Vastolth was huge.

"Which knots are you trying, Kyrel of Thonet Hold?" he asked.  He took the rope out of the boy's -- young man's -- hand's, and looked him dead in the eye, maintaining it.  "The thing about knots are, they're easier when you're not looking at them.  And when you're a Rider, you may not be able to look at them or you'll miss the clump of Thread coming at your head.  Instead, try them with your eyes closed.  It keeps your eyes from tricking you."

And with that, he handed Kyrel the rope knotted with the one he'd been struggling with.

Shalia threw D'vik a look; clearly he wasn't forgiven yet for almost ruining her chances.  "I just bet you'd like to give us a ride," she replied to him before turning to D'cul with as much dignity as she could muster in her drunken state, which probably wasn't much.  "Thank you, no, we'll be fine."  She completely overlooked the fact that a dragon would get them there far, *far* faster (and with fewer chances of somebody interfering) than their own legs.  She started to guide Sarati to the exit when she spotted Alyx next to a shirtless young man.  "Hey Alyx!  Take off your shirt, then he'll have to give you his!" she called out with a giggle... and then decided to take her own advice and take matters into her own hands.  She quickly peeled off her sodden top and skirt in a couple of quick moves before slipping under D'vik's shirt to snuggle with Sarati once more, still giggling.

D'cul couldn't hear Sunstreath, but he very much knew that look from his own bronze. "Getting impatient, is he? If you want, I can help. Seteieth just came down for a swim anyway instead of a proper wash."

S'ryll didn't blink as she called him out.  He took a minute to respond, continuing to walk forward.  "Just another shallow bronzerider looking for conquests?  A fair assessment.  You're wrong, but it's a fair assessment."

{{You're an arrogant bronzerider looking for conquests?}} Vastolth chimed in, helpful as always.

He pulled a ring off his finger and tossed it to her.  It was silver, and inlaid with another material that any rider would recognize as eggshell.  "Best gift I ever received was that dragon.  A friend did a close second with this one."

Asheran balked at the rough prod and backtracked, trying to figure out where he had gone wrong. The closeness he felt in that moment to a dumb, beautiful flit somewhere out in the Weyr proper could not be overstated.

Finally, he figured it out.

"I could carry you, too," he suggested, smiling earnestly at Alyx. "I could probably lug you around for hours before I even broke a sweat now. Dragonback. Or, how about push-ups?"

That one was a bit too far for Alyx and she poked him in the side roughly. It was one thing to watch, but another to touch. Though her mind didn't rationalize it that way, just that she felt jealous when he said that.

"And I could carry you," Asheran pitched in, holding up his free arm. He actually flexed, feeling outrageously confident. After all, hey, role models.

"...Yeah. I made it- we made it." I'des tried a grin.

((Now that you're done talking to Seteieth's, wash me.)) Sunstreath interjected, lifting his head regally.

Up closer it was obvious at some point in the fairly distant pass that the brown was threaded across one of his forearms, hence the slight limp. But the injury was old, older than the lad likely was himself. But it didn't slow him down much at all. He cleared the water and crooked his elbow, the way dragon's did for their riders, and stilled, waiting patiently. ((Up you go then.))

D'vik looked over at D'cul and shrugged a bit, once they were private they could do what they wanted and regret or not later. But..neither of them was steady. "Would you ladies like a ride? Trometh is still awake, and willing to take you."

Sarati kissed her cheek. "Let's go to my weyr," she said, bending to scoop up her discarded dress. At least she thought she could walk that far.

Kika's eyes widened, and they were already big to begin with.  A blush spread across her face as she watched the girl's dress slipped off of her.  She averted her eyes at the private acts between the two women.  She shouldn't' be here, she didn't belong in whatever this was.  She wasn't about to begrudge them their fun, but she was too shy to watch.  She set her cup down, half the drink still in it.  Quietly she slipped away.
