S'ryll followed, watching the way she interacted with them.  "How old is the older mare?  When did she last foal?" he asked, his eyes assessing both, his arms open but not reaching for either mare.  Runners did better when they chose to come to you.

Ambrelli was finally catching her breath as she sat down.  "I was born here at the Weyr long ago.  That particular weyr was my parents', but it was damaged a few Turns back I guess," she shrugged as she hadn't been here.  "It's not able to be used for a dragon anymore, so no rider wants it, but I guess I was feeling nostalgic..."

She looked at the girl.  "I'm Ambrelli," she said by way of greeting.

"I thought you would," Sh'ain said with a nod.  "I'll fill Nayari in, and talk to you tonight.  And you, young lady, can just stand right there while I get my boots on."

Re: Familiar faces in strange new places. (Tyne/S'ryll)

TrueTricia

He didn't try to get her to stay in his embrace, and pulled back slightly to give her space.  And already he wanted her back in his arms.  If she'd been anyone else, he'd have pulled her back in, but she had been a goldrider, and S'ryll's respect for that position meant that he wouldn't have been so bold unless she'd already more acquiescing to him.  That she no longer rode gold didn't' change that in his mind.  She would always hold that respect, even if she no longer held the rank.  He watched her closely, seeing these flickers across her face that he couldn't read anymore, but let him know that there were things (because that's what emotions are) going on behind her public facade.

"Tyne, you commanded Vastolth earlier.  He told me as much.  Not a queen dragon, but you.  You will always have that power over him, over us.  That much hasn't changed," he said softly.  He wished things had turned out different, but if wishes were horses, the beggars would ride.  He saw her glance at the space where her dragon should have been, and mentally nudged Vastolth.

The bronze shifted, moving his head so that it came to rest beside Tyne, one whirling eye blue in contentment.  He gave a little whuff, as if he didn't already have their attention.  S'ryll smiled at her as she teased him.  "M'lady, Vastolth and I would be honored if you would accompany us in a few days hence to the water!" he said it with his most gallant voice, intimidating a pompous Lord Holder he'd once heard at a Gather.

"He must like you." I'des commented. "He doesn't talk to other people a lot. Eh, Sunstreath?" A pat to his bronze's back.

"Sure, have a seat." Kashara said, moving to give room. "Guess that makes sense. Makes me glad that the Candidate Barracks are on the ground floor, more or less. Why are you so high up if you don't have a dragon?"

Sunstreath hadn't, of course, said anything like that, and at the pat, the bronze turned his head, eyes whirling blue-green, and regarded the other. ((You wash Foreth?))

I'des grinned. "This one's just picky about anyone else but me trying to climb on top of him. Definitely not much of a passenger-dragon. He'll carry others if I tell him to, though."

Re: Old Enough to Know Better ((Attn: S'ryll / Kyrel))

S'ryll was trying so hard to hold back.  The look of extreme cringing on the boy's face was making it so hard though!  He kept his face from giving it all away, putting on his dragonpoker face until the gig was up.  The scruffy bronzerider let it sink in for a moment, then chuckling.  "Yes, really.  He's huge, so it's more work than fun," he said trying to play it off as a chore again.

He shook the boy's hand, his own grip firm, and nodded.  "Well Kyrel of Arolos Weyr," he switched from Hold to Weyr.  "You may call me S'ryll.  And my bronze is Vastolth.  He'd love it if you called him the Best Bronze, but I leave up to you if you want to feed his ego or not."  He motioned for the kid to follow him down to the water.  He looked for a bucket of supplies that were supposedly out here already.  "Ah, there they are," he said as he made his way over, assuming Kyrel would follow.

((Come on over here.))

{{He said yes!  I told you.  You should listen to me more often.}}

((Yes, I instituted your plan exactly.  You're right.)) S'ryll didn't bother to argue.

A bronze form swam towards them in the water.  S'ryll had not lied about Vastolth being a brute.  His bulky muscles sculpting his form made him appear even larger. Across him, however, a bronze coloration stretches verging on paleness so much he stands in brilliant contrast among the weyrwalls, more odd is the fallow bronze markings scribbled over his wings. They crisscross written like distorted letters piled one on top of another to the point no one could read them.  Whirling eyes came over to greet them, the lower jaw set slightly forward to complete a haughty look.

"K'yrel, this is Vastolth."

Kashara spun in a circle, her glow raised. ((I don't know. I see rock. What am I supposed to see? We were chasing the kitten when we came in.)) With her inability to give a good answer her panic increased.

Meanwhile Foreth was relaying to Kassia.

Brogan had joined them on the ledge. "Tell Sorrel that we need a real search and rescue mission."

Brogan immediately started talking with Sorrel. It took a minute but enough of the conversation went through that Insera stopped her team. Immediately she started giving orders to the different teams.

"That's my sister!" Kalain said. He looked at Tam. "We have to save her."

This image came through more clearly, and the blue passed it on both to his rider, who recognized the girl, and to Foreth.  ((Mine says to keep talking, and asks if you can describe what you see, and to close your eyes and try to remember if you saw anything strange when you were walking)) Rhyth told Kashara, speaking in a soothing tone to try to calm her.

((Just that.  She says she is stuck, and needs help, and doesn't know where she is, and there is another girl with her.)) Rhyth helpfully passed along the fragmentary image he had gotten from Kashara while Sh'ain made a frustrated noise at the new information.

((Who else is with her?  Is she another Candidate?))

((Mine wants me to tell you to stay where you are, and is the girl a Candidate?)) the blue passed on to Kashara.

Sh'ain's eyebrows raised.  "Is this true?" he asked turning to Shalia, who had the grace to look embarrassed.

"More or less, yeah."

"Well, which is it, more or less?"

Shalia swallowed; Sh'ain's expression suggested that he wasn't angry (possibly because he didn't have to consider the politics of things) but that she was still in serious trouble.  "More," she admitted.  "I wasn't 'aiding' Sar, but the rest is true."

"I see.  Perhaps we should continue this discussion in my office," he suggested.  "Unless you wish to be present?" he asked, turning to Kassia.

Foreth had been lying on her ledge having a nice snooze when Rhyth interrupted her sleep and jolted her awake. Few other dragons could have gotten away with it no matter the message.

((What do you mean 'stuck'?)) the Queen asked, filtering the message to Kassia as well.

"Stuck? Who's stuck?" Kassia sat upright at her desk and rushed out to Foreth's side as if that would make the conversation go faster.
