Flapping like that, maybe she wouldn't fly long, Seteieth surmised to himself as he followed easily, massive wings picking up drafts and using them to propel him upwards after her. He kept quiet for now- this wasn't a goldflight where constant praise and accolades where mandatory to even have a chance at winning, but he would send her praises when it was necessary.
Runaath didn't know where that bronze had come from, but he wasn't
about to let that interloper take his beloved Sigyth from him!
Bugling a challenge, the blue deepened his own wingbeats to bring him
closer to his clutchmate.

((Do not worry, Sigyth! Runaath is here, and I will allow no others near you!))

Re: Feast - Avoiding The Center ((Attn: Arciel, Calyse))

Cool blue eyes shifted toward the unfamiliar man that had stopped to address her, instantly stiffening at the stranger's approach. At first glance, he was well-dressed and the sort of handsome that made hearts stop as he passed in the hallway. That he would even speak to her seemed out of the ordinary, surely some Holder's son-turned-dragonrider-aspirant with better things to be doing. Then he addressed her by rank and name and she straightened as if she'd been struck, remembering as he spoke the decorum she was failing to uphold.

The shiny new knots on her shoulders meant she needed a put on an air of confidence, of control. She knew this. She braced for the chastising she expected, but it never came. His words were kind. Calyse blinked, disarmed by his serendipitous reassurances. "W-Well, I-- I thank you," she inclined her head in a polite bow, unused to someone else trying to bolster her confidence. "It's still hard to believe I was chosen at all, but I-I'll remember what you said." Smoothing the wrinkles in her skirt atop her thigh, standing next to him, she felt horribly under-dressed for the occasion. Should she have worn something different? Something better? Shells, she didn't own better. "I find myself dreading going inside, there will be so many people." And they will all want to talk to me.

"You have me at a disadvantage, though. You know my name, but I don't know yours."

Arciel took to his preparations for the post-hatching breakfast with a dutiful attention to the formality of the affair, no matter how scaled back the celebration was. A careful use of his knife saw to a clean shave, and some light application of alcohol sterilised any cuts from the treatment. His teeth he attended to with salt and water, chewing a scented herb before rinsing his mouth clean to ensure a lack of bad breath. His hair was washed and styled with a bone-comb, timed for it to be at least halfway to dry prior to his arrival but still possessed of enough moisture to sit neatly on his head. His sword was locked in the armoury per the agreement with the Weyrguards, and so he ignored his sword belt while attiring himself for the breakfast.

A white shirt tied up to the neck came on first, followed by a simple dark tunic and a pair of leather vambraces for his forearms. A dark pair of leggings were pulled on afterwards, suspended by a simple belt and matched with a pair of sturdy dark boots. Finally he slipped on his family ring and looked down at himself, nodding in satisfaction as he checked the state of his attire. It was no expensive ball dress, but for the breakfast it would more than suffice as ‘formal’ wear.

He left his residence ten minutes later after ensuring it was clean and orderly, making his way towards the dining hall. Brief nods were exchanged with the guards on duty as he made his way to the building with a gait that was neither hurried nor slovenly, piercing blue eyes roving over the faces of those excitedly making their way towards the hall for the meal. Arciel saw no reason to make any attempt at real haste, and he more than enjoyed the morning air as he moved.

His training session had ended only two hours prior, and the timing of the breakfast couldn’t have been better: He’d already had a meal with the guards prior, but an extra serving of energy was never something to scoff at. His eyes alighted on the guards on station outside the dining hall and he smiled at them politely in greeting from a distance, intending on heading straight inside – until a glimpse of golden thread caught his eye.

Slowing to a halt at the entrance to the dining hall, Arciel focused his attention on a fidgeting figure with Weyrling knots attached to her arm. It would be impolite not to say anything. He decided immediately, changing his approach to intersect with Calyse’s hesitant form. Everything about her body language detailed her nervousness and trepidation, and Arciel quietly suppressed the voice in his head that affected disapproval for her lack of resolve. Responsibility, he knew, was not as easily accepted by everyone as it was by some.

“Goldrider Calyse?” He asked as he drew within polite speaking distance, his baritone voice carefully constructed with a respectful intonation. “My apologies for disturbing you, but I wanted to offer you my congratulations on the rare and prestigious honour of being selected by a Queen.” His sapphire eyes swept her from head to toe for a moment, lingering on the knots of her arm before returning to her gaze.

“I know the weight of the duty ahead of you may be heavy, and I would never presume to know your mind on the matter, but I wish to express my sincere faith that you will fulfil your position with grace and capability.” He let his belief – perhaps more so in the wisdom of her Dragon than in her, though that faith extended to her by default – in Calyse’s ability to fulfill her role convey itself in a warm smile. “I know that you must be still adjusting to your new reality, but I have full confidence you will rise to the occasion. You were chosen, after all.”

He glanced at those around them coolly, before looking back to her with another reassuring smile. “I’m sure you know better than anyone that you can trust that as a mark of your capability, as anyone else can and should.” If nothing else, it was imperative that a Goldrider be more confident – even if forced – than what Calyse was showing. If not for her own sake, then for the Weyr as a whole. Arciel knew he might have been pushing the line between kindness and presumption, but he had never been one to hesitate simply because of the potential for negative consequence. He wasn’t about to begin with Calyse.

She looked away, looked down and found herself lost for a moment in the swirling gaze of the dragonet. She stared, the sight of blood and gore still present, but taking on a somewhat dream-like quality. Yiyu blinked, surprised at the look given her. Then her face fell. She hadn't gotten Rennitz anything. With Mertrith to tend to, the tradition had flown right out of her head. Still, she smiled to see Rennitz receiving *something* from her good friend.

((Neither of you will starve as long as I am here.)) Cheironth interjected, snapping another piece of meat up as A'shran offered it, and watched the pair with whirling eyes. Only when that bit of meat had been thoroughly chewed and swallowed did something seem to occur to the baby bronze. ((Only... are you starving now? I will protect you from that.)) The next bit of meat, taken directly from A'shran's hands, was gnawed only a little, and then haphazardly flung toward the other pair, smacking wetly into the ground. It made a very satisfying sound, but it also reminded Cheironth how hungry he still was, and he turned back to his lifemate for more, too noble to beg.

A'shran smiled and held out another small bit of meat and then - uh oh, the Weyrlingmaster was definitely looking at him, and while he had expected that he'd be found out eventually, he'd also thought it may have been one of the AWLMs, or... Actually, honestly, he hadn't expected anything past the point of Impression. He was flying by the seat of his pants now. His smile fell away.

"It's bronzeling A'shran, sir. I've impressed Cheironth." He lifted his chin, cleared his throat, and then added somewhat more humbly: "I was banned, Weyrlingmaster. I guess you probably want to talk to me later about that, but could I keep feeding him first?"

Re: Camping Trip Greenflight!!: Into the Unknown ((Attn: Kinara/Arendelth, any chasers))

Kouga

..[snip]..
When Get'ew spoke and drew her attention, Kinara/Arendelth left where
she was standing by Lor'ci and drifted over toward the taller man,
tilting her head to the side curiously at his words. She gave a
pleased sound at his words before saying, sounding far away, "Well
said, brown...Mine Needed, I Flew to Provide."

Pengith, with his wise response to her query, drew Arendelth's
attention and her admiration at his gracious answer. The brown had
even said he *needed* her, needed her speed and her agility.
Arendelth, quite pleased with his saying outright that he needed her,
tilted her wings toward him so that she could better admire him.

Kinara/Arendelth's eyes glanced over Rena, teasingly walking over
toward the other woman but continued to stay just out of reach with
her movements that were slowly looking more and more fluid and less
stilted. Her hands even drifted up once or twice to the buttons of her
shirt as if tempted to undo a few of them, but then stopped just
before her fingers could.

And then her other wingmate drew her attention with his flowing words,
his promise to defend her. And to let him command her. But *she*
didn't really want to lead...she wanted someone strong to lean on, to
be her support...to be her friend, but she didn't want to lead them.
She was only a green, after all. But, his other words had painted a
beautiful picture to the green and so she showed her appreciation with
a rumble of pleasure.

Arendelth was...getting tired. Flitting back and forth in the air,
darting forward after letting one get close enough to think he stood a
chance, then shooting to the side in a neat twist of her wings before
diving with a small barrel roll only to spent time climbing up high
again even though she sought out every warm thermal she could to boost
her up higher. But even using every trick she knew, she could feel the
weariness in her muscles beginning to tremble and she knew she'd have
to pick soon from one of her suitors, those who hadn't been left
behind that is.

She was gravitating toward 3 specific blue dragons the most, her
clutch brother or either of her wingmates as she was the most familiar
with them. Arendelth flitted between them, studying their movements,
their flying, seeing if any of them were abnormally tired. Trying to
choose the *best* option for her and her lifemate, for what they
needed tonight. Trying to outlast the burn in her muscles, she'd *just
about* made her choice and banked her wings to head toward large and
steady blue Trometh, when out of the corner of her eye she saw a
*different* suitor, one the color of trees able to withstand
windstorms and monsoons. Turning to look at brown Pengith, his
impressive words fresh in her head, and suddenly in an agile twist of
her wings that was...actually a bit painful as Arendelth jerked
herself around, the glowing green headed straight toward Pengith with
a simple {{You need me? And I accept you. Fly with me Pengith...be our
steady shoulder, our rock...our tree in a storm.}} And the green
embraced with the brown, tail twining with his.

Kinara/Arendelth, who'd been heading for D'vik at the same time her
green had seemed to have made up her mind, reaching out a hand to her
clutch-sibling...her weyrlinghood classmate. But, when Arendelth
suddenly did that painful twist in the air a hiss of pain escaped
Kinara's lips as she flinched back...and then she froze as Arendelth
twined her tail...not with Trometh but with...with a brown dragon
instead. Turning, movements a bit more hesitant now than they had been
before even though Arendelth had made her choice, Kinara/Arendelth
turned her hazel gaze upon Get'ew. Without speaking she took the
couple steps toward this unknown brownrider to put herself just within
reach of him being able to embrace her slightly trembling small frame.
Then, in a flash of Kinara breaking through so very briefly she pulled
in a sudden breath and shot D'vik a glance over her shoulder as she
nearly whispered the plea to her former classmate of "Please..stay
too?"

High above, Trometh rumbled as he was not chosen. But he wasn't one to
be a sore loser. He turned instead in a long low glide, giving himself
plenty of time to cool off before landing, he chose to land in the
surf, well away from the candidates.

On land, as the spell woven between D'vik and Trometh lessened, D'vik
heard the plaintive note in her voice, the note of remembered fear. He
could no more not respond to that than give up his dragon. He stepped
forward without a word and lightly touched her shoulder, showing that
even now, turns later that he would always be there when someone
needed him.<<

Pengith followed the sparkling green twisting his way though some of
the blues who got just a bit closer than he would like, but unlike
them and the green he had stamana. He could in the end out last them
even if that wasn't what he prefered, but it was his advantage in his
size and he knew it. Still when she move towards one of the blues he
nearly let himself fall back in defeat, but then she wasn't caught and
she was calling to him! He reached out to take her shoulders tails
twined together and offered a pleased rumble. {{I will always need you
glorious green.}} He promised once more {{My wings will carry you and
yours can defend me. I will always be here to keep you from any
storm.}} it was something easy to agree to, and even if she wasn't in
his wing, he meant it.

Get'ew followed Kinara as she moved though the males the tension
finally leaving as she at least seemed to relax. There was still
tension, but it was the proper kind of flight tension and that he
could put to the back of his mind as something to not be worried
about. He watched her move, the part of him still him not in the least
bit entised, but Pengith made her perfect when all he saw was her
green.

He found himself tempted to try and pull closer to her, past a couple
of the others once or twice, but resisted no it wasn't how things were
done even if some part of him was eager to have things to an end. She
needed space and wasn't any more happy with this than some of them
were.

When her green drifted towards one of the blues he found himself
following Kinara as she moved closer to the blue's rider and his
fingers itched to reach out and take. It wasn't their place, he never
had and he never would. But then he realized in the same breath that
Pengith did that there was suddenly a green in his wings. Kinara
wasn't as attached to him as Arendelth was to Pengith, but she was
there. It took another breath to realize that the blue had stayed,
that she had asked him to stay. He felt the part of him still flying
with Pengith want to growl at that, she had chosen, was he not good
enough? She had rejected this blue for him! The part of him that was
him though ... didn't mind. His mind registered enough to realize
D'vik really was a rather handsome thing and that? Well that didn't
bother him in the least he quickly decided as he embraced his green
offering a kiss and waiting to see what the little blue would get up
to.
