V'drare's lips twitched as he watched the poor sod in question wipe at himself. His attention turned to the Candidate and he smiled down at her, eyes warm with the news.

"Yes, yes, it was.... I don't believe we've met."

Truenoth was absolutely beside himself with joy over the clutching of a second golden daughter. His relief in seeing Foreth lay her egg compounded that mirth.

He bugled loudly and could not refrain from announcing –

((I have the great honor to tell you all that I have sired upon Foreth two golden daughters whose eggs now harden on the Hatching Sands!)) He paused for a moment. ((Talith helped. My friend, Talith, helped. My thanks to him and to the dam of my... of our clutch. Take joy, my friends and colleagues. There is one more reason to celebrate today.))

"Thank you." D'cul at least had the grace to select a seat a distance from the woman that was both not too close and not too far away as to seem as though he were avoiding touching her. "How are you? I know our dragons have met, as Seteieth is fond of telling me about your gold, but we have not yet I don't think. Your accent places you... Telgari? Forgive me if that's rude."

She honestly hadn't noticed it until R'tal had pointed it out.

"Usually, yes, I do, actually," Andronda answered, sipping at her
wine.  "Sometimes, though, I don't much feel like being in the crush
of the crowd."

She wasn't going to outright say that she felt terrible, and had only
come because of a pestering gold and a faint notion that she *had* to
put in some sort of appearance.  It was the Weyrwoman's birthday, and
Sarati's, after all.

"Both perspective sires were guarding the entrance. I didn't see a single egg," she answered truthfully.
The two girls looked disappointed at that news, but in all reality,
both had expected it. Golds were protective, after all, and didn't
usually let anyone see them lay their eggs. The fact that they had
news of the clutch as it was being laid was surprise enough!

"Well, that's a bit disappointing, but all the same. Eggs on the
sands!" Ji clapped, as Raelah grinned. "The barracks are going to be
buzzing tonight, for sure."

Re: Every Party Needs A Wallflower Att: Andronda/D'cul

Jerzy Tobin

With how closely he had to watch his charges from the Midsummer Dreamers, it was rare for D'cul to actually get a minute to himself, let alone have time to go to a party. He'd heard of the Weyrwoman's celebration and had received permission to go after seeing to his four youngsters. The bronzerider was dressed in a light grey pantsuit with black trim and gold accents. His bronzerider knots stood out spectacularly against those colors, his AWLM knots blending with those to make quite the display, D'cul thought. His new jeweled beltknife, freshly sharpened, sat in its sheathe on his waist with its gorgeous glittery brown moonstone shining for anyone to see.

Walking the party with a coveted glass of red wine, D'cul saw the woman curled into her booth by herself and frowned in concern. He moved to approach, standing a bit outside of the booth from respect. It was then that he recognized her and he had to smile softly. Of course- a goldrider had just been attacked so naturally she would be upset. After all, it could have been her who had been the target instead of the Weyrwoman.

"Goldrider Andronda, might I join you tonight? I am Bronzerider D'cul of Seteieth, AWLM."
Andronda held off another sigh. She had just gotten her corner back
to herself, and someone else came striding in. Really, she should
have just stayed in her weyr. That was on her, though. Well, it was
on Nykantiath, and she could feel the gold's smugness through their
bond. If the gold was enjoying the attention of bronzes and browns,
then apparently her rider needed to be doing the same, whether she
actually felt like it or not.

"Of course, Bronzerider D'cul. I don't mind at all," Andronda said,
her voice light - as if she didn't actually mind at all. An outright
lie, but if the man was an AWLM, he wouldn't be spending too much time
at the party, anyways, so she doubted he'd spend all of his time with
her.

Re: (Clutching) Why Kassia Missed Her Party atten: Foreth/Truenoth/Talith/Mendl #clutching Part 212/The End #clutching

sailyn2

“Sounds good,” Mendl said, moving over to give Kassia room. She oiled up again and took one side of the egg. “You’re doing good, Foreth. I’m sorry that this hurts, but think of how much better you’ll feel when it’s done. Ready, Kass..ia?” Shards, she was getting too familiar. The changes one day would do.

“On my mark. One...two...three...pull!”

Kassia oiled her own hands and slid her hand into place.

“It’s almost done, love...”

One three she and Mendl worked together. Slowly at first, then faster the egg moved until it peaked out the bottom and together between the three of them the egg slid free and onto the sand. Kassia took a rapid step back, her hand swiping some of the goo off of the egg and revealing the color underneath.

“Feck, no wonder that egg’s so big!” she gasped at the dull gold that shown where the egg had been revealed. “Mendl, let’s give her some space.”

Before one of them got eaten.

“And here I was calling it a bronze,” Mendl gasped as she hurried behind Kassia to get out of Foreth’s way.

“Two gold eggs? Two? That’s...amazing, yet since there are two sires, I guess it makes some kind of sense.”

She got back to their seats and realized she’d left her med bag by Foreth. Ah well, she supposed it would come flying into the middle of the caverns at some point.

“I’d like to stay for a while longer, make sure she’s okay before leaving, if that’s alright with you?”

“Sure,” Kassia said as she relaxed now that Foreth was finally done.

The Queen pulled the egg around front and finished licking it clean to reveal that this second gold egg was even larger than the first, but where the first looked like molten gold, the second looked almost dull  but still very definitely gold. The pattern was of a golden cage to hold in the second of Foreth’s daughters.

All in all there were twenty six eggs, including one that Foreth must have laid early on when Kassia was distracted that looked sort of like a skull. Soon Foreth would have to show them all to the world, but for now they remained Kassia and Mendl’s secret.

"Ah." That made sense. "I was born and raised here in the South.
