L'nix actually chuckled at that, finding the image endearing. He watched the brown glide oh so gracefully and found it appealing. "What about greens? Are they as tempermental as green dragons? And will her proddiness affect me? I wouldn't imagine it would be that strong if so since they're, you know, tiny."

Re: GATHER: Callamere Stall - Firelizards (NPC Giselle/S'nen)

One trader caravan was eagerly awaited every Mid-Summer Gather and the Callamere compound was always a sight to see. The large paddocks housing the Callamere White runners - their coats glinting brightly in the morning sun as they tossed their heads and flicked their tails. Near that was the large, text like structure where the wher-pups for Bonding were available to be seen, watched over by Revai’s trio of golds and beyond that again was the firelizard stall - the roof of the open-fronted tent festooned with firelizards trilling their merry song, darting through the air like colourful flags.

This Turn, it was not Sythy manning the stall but rather her replacement, her younger sister Giselle, the blonde-haired woman the spitting image of her father, Riv. Tall but lean, her blonde hair braided and wearing a light blue belted tunic, she struck a cheerful figure as she carefully fussed over the trays of eggs that had been arranged and marked up with their colour and prices. On her shoulder, draped with casual elegance was the unmistakable shape of a Callamere gold firelizard who inspected her Mistress’s handiwork with a discerning eye.
When they were finally ready to go, the barriers were taken down, the gangway cleared and the stall was open to all!

S'nen spotted the firelizard booth almost immediately after he'd bet on the runners. How could he not, after all, when the stall was practically covered in the beasts? He strode over, nodded a greeting to the woman at the counter. "My duty to you, Lady." he offered. "I hear you're selling the finest creatures to be found anywhere on Pern." A flash of teeth in a quick smile. "I would be interested in purchasing one of them. Perhaps a bronze?"

[Gather] Cakes and Pies and Bubblies Abound (NPC Gemina, Any)

Gemina had arrived early that morning- first days of the Gather were often the most lucrative. Cakes were the first things set out, creations she'd spent all of the last two days making and then decorating, carefully set along the shelves of her stall, and then along the front of said stall, yesterday night's bubblie pies, re-warmed.

And from the portable oven levered into place drifted the smell of freshly baking bubblies.

OOC: Gemina is open for business! Keep in mind that the cakes are limited. Bubblies there will be more of.

Prices:
Bubblies- 1/32 mark for four
Pies- 1/32 mark for two
Individual size cakes (Decorated) - 1/32 mark each

(Arolos Cup) Waiting Til The Last Candlemark (( SA Elowyn ))

Elowyn had never been drawn to gambling, but her luck as of late had been the absolute worst and you don't change something by sitting around. She had opted to swing by the bookies at the last possible moment, hemming and hawing over whether to place a bet at all. It seemed foolish, tempting fate to screw her over one more time. And yet, some of the runner names stood out, resonated with her. Trusting her gut, she placed a single mark on each and decided that she would allow the randomness of the universe to give her answers to questions  she had no one else to ask.

OOC: Elowyn - 1 mark on Tastes-Like-Chocolate, 1 mark on Hard Luck, 1 mark on Perennial Bloom

(Arolos Cup) Last Minute Bets

Jerzy Tobin

Atsuyo hadn't planned on placing a bet, but Nidelath's nagging for
treats had the green rider hoping to win something, just so she could
get the green off her back. All the same, she wasn't willing to waste
a whole lot, either.

1/4 on Hard Luck, 1/4 on SilverSquared, and 1/2 on Tastes-like-Chocolate

**

Ka'an had always been a gambler. Not to the extent his father had
been, not to the extent that he found himself neck deep in debt and
selling off his kids to pay that debt, but still, when there was a
chance to bet on the runners, Ka'an would do so. Besides, being a
rider, he *had* marks to spend. And he never, ever, bet more than 2
marks on a race. Heck, he only spent anything like that on *this*
race because it was The Arolos Cup.

1/2 mark on Starlight Guardian, 1/2 mark on SilverStrike, 1/2 mark on SilverBell

**

Yeha had done well with her shaved ice stall, and so decided to spend
some of those marks on a bet.

1/4 Watch Dragon, 1/4 on Fearless Perfection, 1/2 on Always Lucky

She gave him the price ranges. "They're similar in personality, yes," Insera said. "But harder headed and more stubborn. What do you want a wher for? What personality are you looking for? What others will regularly be interacting with the wher?"

Green (sterile) wher - 8 marks
Blue wher (Sterile) - 10 marks
Brown wher -12 marks
Bronze wher - 15 marks

GATHER: Where's a Wher? Here's Five! (WHERSTALL attn D'vik)

It was a nice, warm day for a Gather, and D'vik was having a grand time wandering through all the shops. He'd stopped and gotten some treats earlier and was thinking that it just might be time for a nice cool drink when he spotted a little shop with wher eggs. Normally he'd have kept on walking, but there was something about the eggs sitting there that, though not Callamere deserved a second look. He wandered on over and was caught by the red on he shell of one of the eggs. Sure he had the marks, but did he really need a wher? They were so much work. Of course he'd have Trometh to help, asked silently, Trometh reassured D'vik he would be fine with a little brother. And they could always use more help with Fabio. Trometh himself had a slight alterior motive, if D'vik had a wher, maybe his babies when they began moving about, would be less likely to climb on him...he could just sic them on the wher instead.

That settled, D'vik stepped past the crowd and up to the stand.

"Hello there."

Gather: Ladies And Gents, This is the Moment You've Waited For Att: Any

Jerzy Tobin

The day of the Gather had finally arrived. Raelah had received
special permission to leave the Weyr the night before, to help her
family with the set-up of the Circus tents - the main one and a few
smaller side-show tents scattered throughout the gather - and plan out
the various shows and entertainments that would be done over the
course of the three days so as not to impede with the other main
events that ran every Mid-Summer gather. No point in trying to
compete with the Arolos Cup or Harper's Open, but anything else was
free game. Raelah had one of those side-show tents for her use for
that first day. Not the whole day, exclusively, she had to share, but
there was a slate board outside with the times of the different shows
listed, and she had gotten the choice hours this time around. But, it
was up to her to fill that tent for those shows if she wanted to
actually make any money.

One of the easiest ways, of course, was to give quick demonstrations
of her skill, while hawking out the times of her full performances.
Now, everyone of a like mind with similar talents was doing the same,
so, being flashy helped. Her white-blonde hair had been braided up
into an intricate style with brightly colored ribbons and beads, and
there was a beaded headband wrapping around her forehead, with bright
feathers pinned to one side. Her sleeveless tunic dress was form
fitting, to show off the curves of her body, the fabric dyes a vibrant
shade of purple. The body of the dress was heavily embroidered in a
riot of flowering vines and geometric designs in colors of orange,
blue and red. At the hips, the fall of the fabric turned into long
fringe that swayed hypnotically when she moved and spun. The fringe
of the tunic dress also allowed for greater movement, but also showed
off very shapely legs in tight fitting leggings tucked into short
boots. Sometimes she did without footwear, but not this time. Not
for a gather this big.

Just the sight of her garb was enough to draw stares in and of itself.
She had a pleasant look on her face, her smile intended to draw in the
crowd. This lewd looks and whistles she ignored altogether; they were
an inevitable downside to her costume, but she wasn't one of those who
sold her body, just the skill that she had learned to entertain with.
That skill was juggling of several varieties. The best was with the
diabolo, the axel-and-cup tossed with string and wand in intricate
patterns and dances. But to draw a crowd she used something a little
easier to manuever outside of a tent stage, but that was equally
alluring. She began tossing the small knives in a simple but hypnotic
pattern.

"Ladies and Gentlemen! The most amazing show you have ever witnessed
is set to begin in 15 minutes time, in the tent right behind me.
Don't miss out on such feats as I am demonstrating here, and far, far
more! Just a 1/16 mark for an hour of wonder and amazement. Don't
miss out, folks! Step right up!"

Gather: Icy Treats stall

Jerzy Tobin

The tent wasn't as large as some of its neighbors, but then, it didn't
really need to be. Its purpose was to keep as much sunlight off of
the decent sized ice chest that was sitting inside, next to a table
stacked with various pots filled with different flavored fruit juices
and stacks of small wooden bowls and spoons. Also sitting on the
table was a sign that read: 'Flavored Ice - 1/8 Mark'.

Yeha had spent a decent number of the marks on that ice chest with
this idea specifically in mind. The ice chest had not come cheap, nor
had the special blade for shaving the ice that she'd ordered from the
smiths, but it had been well worth the cost. It was necessary if she
wanted to keep the ice she had brought in from the North from melting
into nothing within the course of a few hours. With that specially
insulated chest, the ice should last all day, or at least, keep it
from melting long enough to be eaten.

The blue rider had come up with, in her opinion, an ingenious idea.
What better type of treat to serve at the MidSummer Gather than a bowl
of flavored ice. It was cold, it was tasty, and as far as she knew,
there was nothing else like this anywhere else in the gather. And
even if the customers didn't want flavored ice, there might be some
who would be willing to part with a small fee for some of that ice for
their drinks.

"Flavored ice! Come get your flavored ice! A nice cold treat to beat
the summer heat!" Yeha called out to the people passing by the tent.

Gather: Tailor Stall (Attn: Bronwynn, Z'rain)

Aaron

"Think I might need something fancier?" came a familiar voice.

Z'rain was dressed for the occasion, likely in something Bronwynn herself had made. He had meant it to be, but it was possible he was misremembering where he got this particular outfit.

It was nice to be out of the winter cold of the North, and living as he did near a desert, his summer clothes were thankfully appropriate for an Arolos summer. Glossith certainly appreciated the opportunity for a warmer sun.

***

“Gather clothes here! Come take a look! A bit too hot in what you’re wearing? Or maybe you want something a little more special to go dancing in? I’ve got just what you need!"

Gather:Wherhall Whers (Jaseto)

Kouga

On the other side of the Callamere whers was the Wherhall tent. Where Callamere sold "pet" whers, the Wherhall (when it could be persuaded) sold working whers. It sold to people needing guards and help with search and rescue and other types of jobs and usually on contract. Most of the people around the Wherhall were Whercrafters themselves working on some project they wanted to show off or sell through the Hall. Anyone asking after eggs without good reason would be sent on their way.
OOC: This is the side where people can ask about joining the
whercraft, questions about whercraft, or if someone thinks they have a
legitimate reason for a working wher. <<

Jaseto had been saving marks for turns for this, well originally for
Callamere, but this was new and she had heard they may actually be
better for what she was looking for. With that in mind the traider
waited until her and her brother had the stall running well and it
would be fine with just him for a few moments to come check things
out.

She had done some research, but it hadn't given her all the answers
she wanted. She did know it would be easier if she could find one to
bond if possible due to wanting to look after her and Tesser, but that
was about all she had figured out for sure. So honestly in the end she
was hoping that she could also get some help and besides it worked
better for her persona if she didn't have all the answers going in. So
while waiting for someone to be free she glanced around at the stall
in general waiting.

Gather: Tailor Stall (Attn: Any, Bronwynn)

Rosiegirl

Bronwynn and the rest of the tailors and crafters had been preparing for the Gather, a full Gather instead of the single day celebration of that wedding at Ista. Thankfully, this Gather was here at the Weyr, so there’d be no huge planning needed to transport everything to her stall’s area. Still, the night before the Gather she did a final check of everything she was planning on putting out on tables, making sure they were in their easily carried bags, and even made sure that her rolled hide ‘tailor kit’ was fully stocked too.

The next morning, anyone walking past her stall would clearly see how much Bronwynn had prepared for the Gather. Racks were set up in a kind of boxy ‘U’ shape, with  the curve of the ‘U’ toward the back of the stall, and dresses and clothes of many types were already hung on the racks. The curve of the ‘U’ did have a small gap, a spot where Bronwynn could walk to the back of her stall, where she’d set up a changing room. In front of the stall the table was full of folded clothes (the more casual clothing she’d prepared), as well as the sun-hats. Most unusual were the folded up parisoles that lay in rows on the table (a product of working with a wonderful smithcrafter to make these).

The racks of clothing behind the table were sorted by the type of clothing (shirt, skirt, dress, etc) as well as by how fancy it was. There were even a couple of racks of men’s and kids clothing too. In the back of the area was a place that had drapes of heavy fabric hanging down to the ground, with the front drape held back with a rope: A fitting room!

Bronwynn, waking up early to get her stall set up before the Gather started, had already changed from the clothes she’d worked in into a dress more appropriate for a Gather. In a stunning white draping dress with a plunging ‘V’ neckline and a series of thing leather belts around the waist to give her the illusion of curves, the bottom of the dress was a series of light, flowing layers made in a lighter weave/fabric combo that actually helped the wearer to not be *quite* hot and sweaty in the Arolos heat. The plunging ‘V’ neckline was mirrored in the back but to a greater extent, showing off more of the skin of her back and clearly indicating there to be no bra-band (as Bronwynn was not endowed enough to need one even with this dress), and at her shoulders were decorative clasps holding the pieces of fabric together over both front and back.

Bronwynn had spent extra time on embroidery and fine stitching with how simple the pattern was for this dress and on some of the layers there was also beading on the skirt, the beading done in very pale but not quite colorless beads so there was only the hint of a design of the beads arranged in soft swirls...not too much, but enough to be pretty without overpowering the simple design of the dress. Foregoing her usual flats, a pair of heels on her feet boosted Bronwynn’s already unusual height of 5’11” up several more inches making her even more noticable.

But there was a reason for her flashy dress and tall heels as being as noticeable as she was in the stunning dress with her height, and wearing such an unusual amount of layers in this heat without looking overheated, Bronwynn had planned this to hopefully catch people’s attention and bring more customers to her stall.  So, there she stood...the Lady in White...in front of the table, to the side slightly so as not to block the merchandise, and called out to people as they arrived at the Gather and passed nearby.

“Gather clothes here! Come take a look! A bit too hot in what you’re wearing? Or maybe you want something a little more special to go dancing in? I’ve got just what you need!"

"It's not dissimilar to how runners nibble at each other. You also see a lot of grooming behaviours like you do in dragoons. But they don't speak verbally - well, they have noises but they communicate to us, and each other, through an assortment of emotions, images and body language. So if your firelizard is hungry, they'll amplify their feeling of hunger at you and accompany it with images of their favourite food. Usually the things you've told them recently that they're not allowed." There was a laugh to her voice as she held out her hand and the brown swooped easily to it at the command of Shimmer.
