Delysia, at least, seemed satisfied by what she saw. "I hope you found everything alright with your new office." She continued briskly. "If not, ask for Headwoman Larissa in the lower caverns - she'll be able to get you set up." She paused. "It's probably worth going down and introducing yourself anyways." She added. Since she was speaking to a fellow goldrider, she didn't think she needed to explain why it would be a good idea to have a good relationship with the Weyr Headwoman.

A Queen's Faire (Various Firelizards)

Ren

Javensha adored flying, the way that her large wings let her glide regally though the air with pure ease and move about as though without effort or the need for her appendages. She took every opportunity that she had to soar through the skies around the Weyr and with her human at lessons the time seemed perfect. While it was true that Javensha preferred to be with Rennitz at all times, when her girl was in class there were just far too many strange eyes on her all the time. Yes attention was nice, but not when it was near unblinking and jealous. She knew that she was special, that was enough. So, into the skies she went.

The gold's attention was caught by a very bright shiny spot below her that she instinctively identified as a bronze of her kind. Javensha trilled down to him and he trilled back obligingly while ascending to this young queen. The pair of them spun together in greeting while getting to know each other a bit. The bronze was Sparkli, the seven Turn old bronze of greenrider Vofali. He was charming enough and sweet to boot, someone who Javensha thought that she might spend plenty of time around. While she was getting on with this bronze, an angry chittering interrupted them. Looking about, Javensha saw a one-eyed blue hovering nearby scolding Sparkli soundly. Offended on Sparkli's part, Javensha stepped in with her own scolding backed by her golden status that had the blue quieting down and even muttering an apology.

He identified himself as Lucky, also of Vofali. When Javensha gave a curious chirrup about his eye, she received an angry flurry of images of wherries attacking a very small blue and almost killing him before two humans intervened. A curious inquiry as to who the smaller human was was met with an enthusiastic answer by a third new entity. A tiny green joined the trio and was warmly met by Sparkli and at least acknowledged by Lucky. This was Seilly, Javensha was informed, and she belonged to the little form in Lucky's memory- Heersofali, Vofali's son. Javensha greeted her pleasantly and received a reverent hello in return. That was quite pleasing to the gold.

With her three new friends, Javensha suggested they play a game of chase over the Weyr. Sparkli and Seilly eagerly admitted but Lucky was uninterested. An enticing hum from Javensha ended up persuading the cranky blue to join the game. The small group circled the Weyr once before Javensha spotted two new players. A green was zipping about a blue who was grooming a wing and the gold decided they should join her growing faire. A little trill had them looking up curiously and then with great interest at being addressed by a gold. The pair came up and introduced themselves to Javensha as Neko and Masquerade of greenrider Arialae and seemed pleased enough to be allowed to join the game they'd noticed. That was the right answer for the gold as she nodded regally before taking off again.

Javensha's absence made Aranck curious, so the brown popped out from between from where he'd been in the candidate barracks and looked about. Spotting the growing faire, he sensed Javensha among them so flew up to join. Lucky immediately challenged the brown but was called down by the queen. This was her human's other firelizard and her primary attendant, he was allowed to join the fair. Aranck didn't know about attendant so much, but he wasn't going to correct the young gold. He melded into the fair without further incident. A dark speck flying about drew the gold's curiosity next and she went to investigate. At most, she perhaps expected a leaf or remaining Thread char, but what she didn't expect was a quite dark brown firelizard. At her inquiring cheep, the brown looked over lazily and chirped before resuming his lazy flying. Javensha was almost offended as she called back, asking if he'd join there game. The brown didn't see why he should since he was enjoying himself enough as it was. Javensha's offense grew then and she darted over to the brown and gave him a sound scolding, battering him with her large wings and now demanding that he join them. Unable to resist a queen's desire, the brown sullenly went over to the group and identified himself as Char, one of D'ain's two firelizards. When Javensha asked him about the other, she received images of Adan who had shredded wings. The gold winced and flew on.

Seeing the large group, Kohut immediately suspected that something naughty was going on and launched himself up to investigate. He flew in front of the fair and was surprised to see a gold among them. Recognizing authority when he saw it, Kohut immediately changed his tone to one of polite inquiry. Javensha informed him that they were playing a fun game of chase combined with "find friends" across the Weyr. Kohut didn't put much stock in finding friends, but he could be counted on to join in. Sensing that the boring brown was about to have fun, green Viggy popped from between right in front of Javensha with an enthusiatic greeting. The gold shrieked in surprise but kept her guard away when she saw that it was another green. Before the gold could ask Viggy anything, the green asked very eagerly if they were playing a game and if she could please please please join?! Javensha was so amused by this eager energy that she agreed. Viggy cheered so eagerly that she blinked about here and there before joining the faire. Kohut just sighed as he took up his place.

When Javensha saw another blue and green pair playing together, she actually had to look back and make sure that Neko and Masquerade were still with her. Seeing them in her faire still, she more than curiously flew down to meet this pair with her attendants behind her. The blue was the first one to look up and happily greet the queen while the green hid behind him. Javensha pleasantly intriduced herself to the pair with her standard invitation to play as well as inquiring who they were. The blue introduced himself as Ryu and the green as Linnie, both of brownrider T'eko. Curiously, Javensha asked if Linnie was alright with the way she was hiding but Ryu assured her that she was just shy. The other three greens in the faire came down to green the shy little Linnie with Masquerade being a bit more friendly. She vaguely remembered Linnie from when their humans had been candidates together and that seemed to help the other. Javensha gave Masquerade a praising trill at helping the other to relax and the new pair joined them.

A  long line of blue laying on a rock caught Javensha's attention next. Thinking it a toy or maybe an odd fish, she dove at it with her firelizards trailing behind her, only pulling up when the thing lifted up a head to stare at them curiously. It was a firelizard! Inquiry revealed that he was called Doshe and he lived with the candidate Sonnellion. His clipped and abrupt images seemed almost rude to the gold but she oddly didn't feel any rude intent by it. Asking if he'd like to play, Javensha received a swift negative answer in response. She hadn't let Lucky get away with not playing, so she certainly wasn't letting this one. Raising herself up, she used her influence on the blue and asked him again if he'd like to play. She could swear that Dose raised his lip in a sneer while refusing this time, as though he were offended that she would try such a tactic. Now offended for the second time that day, Javensha gave the blue a harsh verbal seeing-to before Commanding him to join her. By nature, Doshe couldn't resist such a command even if he was just as angered as the queen now.

Javensha was angry now so she decided that her faire should accompany her to the sea. When one of the greens asked why since the game was to chase around the Weyr, the queen snapped at her for silence and was immediately obeyed. She found them a lovely spot and, landing on a rock, declared that the bronze and browns should fetch her fish. The males obeyed (even if Char did give her a sidelong look as he went) so Javensha was more content to settle on a warm rock while the greens and blues sat in the water around her. It was peaceful for a time until sunlight glittered off of a surface near their spot. Looking over at the shiny, Javensha was surprised when she thought that she saw Sparkli laying in the sun instead of fishing for her. A sharp chirp from her was rewarded with a mental battering of aggression and images of scary and ferocity. While her greens and blues shrieked and betweened into the treetops and Sparkli and the browns came back to protect their queen, Javensha was instead remarkably intrigued. Who was this, this angry bronze who hurt so much inside that he lashed out in such a way?

The young queen made her way past her male guards gently and gave a much softer call to the now extremely defensive bronze. Being courteous, she identified herself and asked who the other was. The bronze stood on his bulky hind legs to hiss at her which allowed Javensha to get a good look at him. When she called him handsome, the new bronze paused and blinked in surprise. Handsome? Him? Javensha's affirmative chirp definitely confused the bronze. She asked again what his name was and learned that he was Morgisu of the candidate Luicion. The gold dared to ask about his tridactyl paws and was battered with angry mental images of tall humans laughing, other firelizards biting him, then there was fire and blood and death and cold-

Javensha shrieked but instead of running away from the bronze, she darted forward to wrap her wings around him comfortingly. The angry and terrified thoughts stopped dead at the contact and Morgisu sort of sat on his haunches. The kindness and empathy from this strange gold seemed to melt the old hurt away until the bronze just felt tired, so tired. He nestled his head on the queen and apologized very quietly. Javensha assured Morgisu that all was well with them and offered him to join her faire. He was unsure about the others but the gold assured him that they would not be a problem. Believing the queen, Morgisu agreed and followed her back to her rock. When Javensha assured Sparkli and the browns that she was safe, they returned to the water to hunt for her. Sometime shortly after, the blues and greens cautiously returned. Morgisu went to growl them off but Javensha assured him that they were with her.

While they were resting and after Javensha had eaten, a rustle in the palm tree above them had the males on guard again. Out of the tree fell a very, very odd blue firelizard that looked like it had been stitched together from parts of various blues into one living entity. Javensha gently nosed it and it jumped up and skittered about, chittering nonsense until the queen ordered him still. She questioned him and what he was doing and learned through very janked images that his name was Stitch and he belonged to bluerider L'nel. When asked why he looked like he did, the basic response was just that he did. Odd, but Javensha accepted it. Before she could ask Stitch to join them, the blue went and settled with the others.

Javensha looked about at the large faire she'd acquired that day. Such odd friends, but now they were hers. She could live with that.

Kyn'dras too helped himself to a pot of klah when his chance came around. And just like Andronda, he liked his beverage well sweetened. He also helped himself to a couple of the meat rolls that were on offer, tucking three away into a handy pocket and keeping one in hand for himself.

"Oh yes, it is certainly much warmer here." He agreed cheerfully. "I think it's a pleasant change myself, for the most part, but you've got to watch out for that sun. It's not kind to us former Northerners."

"Oh, you can ask," Andronda quipped, "but you may find the answer
lacking in all sense unless I have some klah first."

The space around the pots had opened up, at least, and the young woman
poured herself a generous mug, adding in a heaping of sweetening as
well.  She never could drink klah plain, and didn't understand how
anyone else could do so, either.  Sweetened properly, Andronda took a

"Well, I'm finding Arolos to be a change, that's for sure," Andronda
said, answering the question.  "Definitely a lot warmer!  I'll have to
end up changing much of my wardrobe at this point, I think.  I knew
the South was hot, but I didn't realize just how much so!"

"Y-yes," said Ay'shen, his mind already fairly addled by the combination of Foreth's rising and the sight of V'ler's abs. "Sh-shells, you're gorgeous," he mumbled.

"Um, that is. I hope he's OK," he corrected as he doffed the underthings. "M-may I join you?"

V'ler heard Ay'shen calling from the doorway.  "In here," he called out.  He didn't bother to hide his appraising gaze at the blonde rider as he entered, wearing next to nothing.  The benefit of being neighbors, he supposed, was that there was hardly anyone to see them between the two weyrs.  "Oh good!  You brought wine.  I set two cups out."  He turned his body, partially coming out of the water, to reach behind him and grab two cups.  He turned back around, his eyes not able to mask the hunger settled there, and beckoned for the other to hand over the wineskin.

"Some jackass bronze hit Kiyo in the face when they took off.  He got a late start, but he's fast.  He just isn't going to have the endurance to finish this, not after a Fall..." he said as he poured the wine.

Kyrel accepted the ring with a confused cant of his head and a curious expression, before he realized just what precious material it contained. Heavy eyebrows shot high on his forehead. "Oh wow, you kept some pieces? That's such a good idea!" It had never occurred to him. That he might Impress at all still felt like such a longshot, it was hard focus on any future that depended on it. He turned the ring over in his hand admiringly.

"...On what I want?" Kyrel asked rhetorically as a frown formed. "Storms, I'm not even sure what I want. I always thought I'd be a seacrafter like my Pa'. Thought I wanted that for a long time. And then.." He skipped over the trauma of the shipwreck by avoiding the subject all together. "Well, I ended up here and now it's like there's this whole other world I never thought I'd be part of. I'm not even sure if a dragon will have me yet." A strangely sad laugh escaped his mouth before he could think better of it.

Re: Because now it's getting on my thoughts. (Ysolde/Tolfast)

Tolfast could always tell when someone genuinely cared about their animals, and it instantly endeared the girl to him. His smile remained in place to listen to her talk, waving her apology aside with a quick hand. "Never mind that, I'm sure you candidates have plenty to keep you busy." He didn't need first-hand experience to imagine their hectic schedules.

When Ysolde began to speak worriedly, he offered her another of his smiles meant to be reassuring. "You made the right choice," he spoke soothingly, bending to take the feline from her hands with a gentle touch. "I always say, it's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to our beasts. We are responsible for them, so we ought to do our best. Hello, little one." Tolfast turned the kitten this way and that for a quick inspection with his eyes before peering into each of her small ears.

"When did you first notice her not reacting to you? Has she responded before now?" He had seen cases like this in the past, but wanted to be sure he had all the information. Close to the kitten's ears, but not within her line of sight, Tolfast snapped his fingers behind the kitten's head in the hopes of provoking feedback.

((I trip a lot.)) Muikoth admitted, sounding not at all fazed, and V'rex sighed. "He said to tell you he trips a lot. Always has. For as graceful in the air as he is, he's not so great on land."

The blue hummed, head turning to watch her, flexing his wing when she touched it. ((Ouch!))

"Is it as bad as he's making out to be?" V'rex asked, uncertainly. "I mean, he's acted up before, tried to sham that he's hurt worse than he is."

"A black... Oh." Rennitz's eyes went wide with both humor and horror as her eyes finally found her gold. "Oh, Javensha, sweetheart, noooo give that back!"

The inky firelizard snorted and scolded down at her human, chastising her for daring to want to take her prize. It was hers, she'd taken it fair and square.

"Oh really, dear? That's yours because you took it?" Rennitz had to hide her amusement. "Well by that logic, then the tidbits that make up your nest would be mine if I took them."

That got an objectionable shirek and angry titters from the young gold. Javensha lashed her tail and raised her ink-stained wings in challenge to her human's statement. Her strong objection was clear over their link.

"Mmhm, it is entirely the same line of thinking and just as naughty as yours. Yes, I said it, you're being naughty. And look at you, your beautiful golden skin is all tainted black. You're not shining anymore."

Curious at the truth of that statement, Javensha looked down at herself and shrieked in outrage at her appearance. She hissed at the inkstick and flung it away as though it had sought to do this to her.

The man chuckled and sipped at his cooled klah. "Yes, I would very much like to have you on hand on that day. The more the merrier in that situation normally, but especially this one. Every single one needs to be carefully examined as you know, but I want extra attention given to the ones from the eggs hit by rocks. The gold took a minute to think further before deciding that, no, she had to do it herself.

Javensha snorted with a nod. Right. She waited until Yiyu looked away enough before spreading her long wings and swooping down to grab that inkstick she craved. Prize in paw, Javensha worked her way back up to her perch to sniff all over her prize and scratch at it curiously.
