Re: A Favorite Topic With a New Face (Diagir/Ziya, Maglor/Glaurung)

{Mag' fam' gone.} Glaurung elaborated, nosing his twoleg for attention, and Maglor's hand moved reflexively to pet the bronze's hide.

"That's all in the past now." the Harper murmured. "I like Arolos, for all its oddities. Life here certainly isn't boring."

Diagir nodded solemnly. "I see. I suppose that I can understand to a point. My brother, I think I said, Impressed green. Father wasn't too thrilled since, as he put it, the bastard left the craft to be the nobody of dragonriders. Let me say, after the amount of greenrides I've met here, I wholly disagree with that statement in general, but I still spit on my brother's boots. What should matter, though, is that you're happy, Maglor."

In Need of a Bit of Healing (Ambrelli/Z'go)

TrueTricia

Ambrelli scanned the list of names on the hide.  She was doing the rounds today, going weyr to weyr to check on injured dragons.  Those on this list were minor injuries, not requiring much in the way of supplies, and thus she could carry what she needed in a satchel.  She'd already tended to a variety of ailments, from a weyrling with a minor issue, to a larger dragon that was having trouble passing feces.  She was tired, irritable, and she had one name left on the list. Z'go and Gamyth.  The names didn't strike a bell with her, but she looked up their weyr numbering, and set off to go find them.  As luck would have it, they were across the Bowl from the previous patient, and what little of her own patience remained had melted away by the time she reached their weyr.

"Brownrider Z'go?  Are you in there?" she called out, knocking and waiting at the entrance.  She pushed a strand of her long dark chocolate hair behind her ears.  Her blue eyes flecked with gold looked about at the list irritably, checking for the dragon's injury as she waited.  On her shoulder, a creamy brown flit perched, eager for the day to be done.

>>home?<< Merck sent her a very clear picture of him sleeping on a hearth with a belly full of food.  "Not yet, little one," she said softly, reaching up to scratch him.

"Rider!" she said with more impatience.  "Are you there or not?"

"I'm... flattered?" I'des tried. Yeah, that sounded right. "Ah, Weyrwoman? Do you mind if I- I sit nearby?" Not next to her. He had hardly enough rank or daring for *that*.

He grinned, then, subconsciously relaxing at the praise to his bronze. "Sunstreath is the best bronze. 'Pologies if we interrupted anything though."

Brogan rumbled at him in acknowledgement.

"Nice to meet you, Sunstreath. I like your name."

Foreth just grunted, less impressed.

Foreth let out a grunt that might be something like satisfaction. At least she didn't chase him off.

"It doesn't work like that around here," Kassia said. "The Weyr uses non-riders as guards generally, to keep from endangering dragons and some of the goldriders want their privacy, which a wher affords. Besides, a lot of people are intimidated by whers just looking at them where they're not by a guard. The Weyrwoman can take care of herself. She had to defend herself against the previous High Reaches Weyrwoman, as I'm sure you know, but she prefers not to have to. There have been too many dangers here not to have guards."

"Well, congratulations, then!"  Shalia laughed and grabbed a glass, and took a swig.  "Whoo, this is the good stuff, huh?"

}{Easy enough, my queen.}{  Vastolth took one look at Saere and knew it was going to be a bit of a wait before he had to fly them up to a weyr, so he would have time for a nice nap in the sun.  Vas looked up into the sky, being unfamiliar with the Weyr itself, and then settled down to the north of the Queen, closer than any other dragon, but out of danger of casting a shadow on her.

"And this Weyrwoman, does she need such beasts to protect her?  Surely she has a trove of bronzeriders ready to defend her or some equally gallant and brave follower."  He'd heard about the WW here though, just in casual conversations.  She'd been involved in some skirmishes, been attacked by another rider, now that he was remembering.  The details weren't there, but suddenly, he wondered a bit more about that knife on the woman's belt.  Perhaps all riders here kept such knives on them.

He'd gone back to his previous position, his leaning into her only being temporary.  But he'd liked what he'd seen up close.  She was beautiful, this female.  He'd have to keep an eye on her when a dragon rose, or the Queen's dragon when all were affected.

Unable to stop herself from laughing at Sarati's happiness, Rennitz went over and lifted her glass with a grin. "Congratulations, then, since you're happy about it!" She took a drink of her white with her smile still in place. "Unusual for a future Lady Holder to be thrilled about not being pregnant, but you've always been your own self."

Sarati hugged her and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "I'm not pregnant!" she said joyously and lifted her glass of rich wine as she pulled back. She glanced over and spotted Rennitz. "Rennitz. Get over here and join us. Have some wine! Wine all around."

((So long as you stay out of my sun,)) she told him. Which actually put him a distance away. If he was observant, he'd notice that no one else was in the patch of sun that was her favorite. They generally knew better or she chased them away.

"Some days," she said with a sort, letting him think his flirting was working on her. "You'll want to get settled in, of course. And learn real quick that we don't do things the same here as other places. The whers are a good example. That one over there is one of the lines of Callameres. There are a couple of types, but they're all carefully bred and trained. The Weyrwoman uses one as a guard, in fact. Quite smart beasts and strong and fiercely protective when bred and trained right."

Shalia had just entered the Dining Hall when she heard the familiar voice making an offer.  Her initial smile turned into a highly approving grin as she saw how her near-sister was dressed, and she rushed over.  She'd reverted to her old wardrobe - having twins played havoc with the figure, especially on a frame as small as hers - and was wearing a loose shirt, though her legs were on good display below the high hemline of her skirt.  "Hey Sar!  What's the occasion?" she asked, throwing her arms around the other woman.

}{Of course they will.  You're the Queen.  That isn't surprising.}{  He left it at that.  It was, after all, her birthright.  That being said, his own vanity prevented him from doing anything less than exiting the water with a flourish, shaking off his large wings one at a time, admiring the way they glinted in sunlight.  The natural pale marking across the back looked initially like Threadscoring, but it was all tonal.  }{Is there room near you in the sun, my Queen?}{  He'd yet to learn her name.  No matter.  They weren't going anywhere after all.

S'ryll gave her an easy smile, the kind he normally didn't use unless he was having fun in the engagement.  Otherwise, his facial expressions were rather subtle, but he was having a bit of fun here.  Still though, he reminded himself to be cautious.  He was new here, and she held the advantage.  Except she didn't know him either, and that was his advantage.

He leaned in a little closer, almost as if he was going to tell her a secret.  "Well then, my dear Sar, you're quite a little valuable trove of information, aren't you?  So what should I know on my first day here?  And what are those funny little beasts behind you?  They look like the whers I've read about in my studies as a beastcrafter before I Impressed up North."  He'd never laid eyes on a Southern wher before, and there were some strange looking ones that didn't quite line up with the descriptions in his studies.  But it had been Turns since he'd really practiced his Craft, outside of a little racing here and there.  Runners were more predictable than people, and certainly he'd enjoyed the coin racing had earned him as a youngster.

The instant those cabinets opened, Luicion's head snapped around eagerly. Sarati's words were music to his ears and the young man cheered as he grabbed his first round.

"Cheers to ya, Sarati! Health to yer dragon an' Threadless skies to ya!" With that, he knocked back his drink with a grin.

Rennitz had been delighted to see her old friend when Sarati had walked in looking like a firework. She was still so happy for Sarati at having Impressed even while she still Stood waiting. Green eyes tracked the young woman curiously as she had the alcohol opened to everyone, eyebrows raising in surprise at Sarati's generosity. Everyone? Rennitz watched Luicion predictably take Sarati up on the offer and down a glass of booze and shook her head. That boy... As for herself, Rennitz opted for a glass of white wine and sat back to watch.

Meanwhile, Sonnellion looked at Luicion more with distaste and a bit of shock. That boy! He was a candidate, why didn't he act like one? Ah for shame. Sonnellion opted to keep to his juice, not wanting to risk his place in the Weyr, thank you.

I Still Can't Belive You're a Mother atten: Shalia/Sarati

Sarati didn't always get a whole lot of time away from the Hold, but when she did she tried to catch up with Shalia. Things had been busier than usual of late on both their ends, but Sarati was determined to spend time with her sorta sister/sorta ex-love/sorta best friend. They arrived in the Weyr and Sarati climbed off her green.

((Kabelth, see if Shalia will meet me for a pinic.))

((Do I have to?)) the green grumbled.

((Yes!))

For a moment Sar thought that her green wouldn't do it, then the green called out, ((Mine would like to have a pinic with you.))

Ambrelli motioned to the girl.  "Come on in.  I won't bite," she wondered if the girl was put off because of who she was, or the girl was just shy to start with.  "What's your name, girl?"

She motioned to the bench off to the side of the table.  "Go on and have a seat."  The brown chirped at Ambrelli and she nodded.  The flit hopped down to the table and walked towards the girl, tilting his head at her.

"Tetsuith will copy him... once she wins." Ran'omi grinned lovingly at his dragons as his words came true. Tetsuith barreled past Meisteth and erupted out of the water, wing fingers smacking the surface.

"It depends on which side you're on. Since you have a blue, of course you'd be a chaser. Chasing fills you with incredible power and makes you feel invincible. You feel like a strong hunter, though it's not as powerful and all-consuming as a dragonflight. It's still stronger than a firelizard flight, which just gets one hot and bothered at times." Diagir tried to keep his words civil and appropriate while still telling the truth. "As the female, it's entirely different. I only know from a gold's perspective, but then it's like you rule the world, you can run forever and ever and no one can stop you. It's... incredible, actually."

"We're survived a lot and come out the better for it," T'rif said proudly. "I wish there were a lot fewer disasters, but there's nowhere else on Pern I'd live. I hope you end up finding Arolos to your liking."
