Fl’kol made his way down to greet the other rider, a wry smile flickering across his face as Nifureeth practically preened.
((Now you I will definitely keep my eye on)) he shifted on the rim. ((Mine and I are almost off watchduty so I could show you the best places to observe the weyr.))

“Welcome to Arolos” Fl’kol called out as he came close enough.

Ooc: well they are Watchrider pair lol.

{{That indicates you've good taste then, dear Bronze.  We of the heroic variety will be ones to keep an eye on.}}  Aryorath touched down onto the ground and crouched low, letting her rider could climb down, with her tail wiggling about in restlessness.  Despite waiting for her rider, her tense form was a clear sign that it wasn't just her tail that she wanted to keep moving.  She'd just arrived meaning there had to be something that she needed to defend the Weyr against...after all why else would this transfer be happening at this moment?  Her rider had other reason for the move, but they weren't interesting enough to pay attention to.

Neffeyn grinned as Aryorath kept addressing someone.  A bronze by the sound of it, but that was all he really knew about the other dragon.  Patting her hide once more, he clambered down from her back, quick and eager to start seeing the sights from the ground.  The moment his feet reached the ground he was pulling the helmet and goggles off.

Rhosgen turned on his side to look at the wher.
"You know where the camp is?" He asked, getting excited as he scrambled to his feet, a few leaves stuck in his hair.

Jerronila shook her head.
"He said it could be dangerous because you have to look after sick people and might get sick, then asked what I'd read recently."
He'd also suggested she might like looking after animals, which, just no.
She swallowed.
"If cutting off legs is part of healing," she said, though it still didn't make sense to her, "then I'll learn it too."

"Not like you'll really have a choice around here," Cremsden said bluntly. "Weyr Healer work involves a lot more emergency surgery than the Hall." He paused, still watching her. "Any reason you *didn't* go study at the Hall?"

Rhosgen was still a bit addled, and the head butt pushed him onto his back. He stared up at the tree canopy in surprise and then started to laugh.
Good thing it wasn't a caprine, he thought, remembering his roommate's story about his ribs.
"Ty very good boy." He replied, feeling better somehow.

The wher grunted, apparently satisfied with that, and shifted back. Rhosgen clearly wasn't eating the wherry right now so he picked it back up, hefting it easily in his jaws. ((Follow,)) he directed firmly.

Rhosgen finished rubbing at his face, and realised that there was a WHER talking to him.
"Ah," he said eloquently.
He looked at the wherry, wondering what he was supposed to do with it.
He'd cooked fish on the beach with other seacraft brats, but how did you prepare a wherry?
"Thank you," he said, wishing he wasn't lost and was back at the camp.

((Ty good boy,)) Tyren explained happily. He lunged forward - a slightly terrifying gesture, though it was only meant to give the boy the kind of friendly head-butt that frequently had R'tal sitting down hard.

Maark'l thought on the images that the little bronze was showing him. A moving bright light that just disappeared. Even that was something new. "I'm not sure what that could be little one. I don't think I've even seen something like that before."

As he was falling the flit, he watched to see if he could find the owner. Maybe he might be able to fill in some more information about what it was that was seen. ((Not sure, Beckarth, but it looks like a fireball.))

Lerian spotted Sandy, and the rider he'd found just ahead of him, and still down hill on the path. He tried to slow down, he really did, but running down the Rim path full speed, left him too little time and space to adequately react. Putting his left foot down to try and stop, since he had stopped looking at his footing it came down in a pile of loose rocks, that combined with momentum launched the boy right off his feet, and towards the rider.

Sandy gave an alarmed squeel and grabbed ahold of the boy's hair trying to stop the inevitable tumble, unfortunately all he ended up with was a clawful of Lerian's hair

Zy'fen was laughing as he left Nerenth to go hunt for his supper, after coming back from the 'necessary' scouting expedition with J'lin and Robith. He'd managed to talk Nerenth out of taking a bath, which was a good thing, since he hadn't brought any dry clothes with him. Now he was extremely hungry, and the stew smelled good. So he headed for it, paying little attention to anything except his growling stomach.
After getting himself a large bowlful, and some bread rolls to go with it, Zy found a comfortable spot to sit, and chowed down, though he gave the stew a look after the first couple bites had an oddly sweet aftertaste.

Ikol understood why guards got sent along with foraging groups.
It was necessary, even if hearing excited comments about yet another leaf was really dull, so as he kept an eye out he thought about what to have his next Gather dress made out of.

Plants. Ugh.
And yet more plants. How exciting.

It seemed that nothing exciting was likely to happen today, so when he spotted familiar berries as the smell of a nearly cooked stew was calling to him, he didn't hesitate to drop them in.
Everyone would be happier after some passionberries, after all.

Jerronila's eyes went wide.
"People try to hit *Healers*?!" She squeaked.
"But Healers help people!"

That actually startled a laugh out of him, even if it was a slightly bitter one.

"Oh sweetheart, you have *no* idea," Cremsden said. He met her eyes again, making sure he had her full attention because this was important. "Listen. Our job is to be there for people on the worst days of their lives, do you understand? Might be the day they lose their kid. Might be the day they're told they have six sevendays to live. Might be the day we cut their leg off to save their lives. And people -- even good people -- don't react well under that kind of stress. Some might just cry, some will be scared and angry with the world and we're the closest part of the world at that point." He tapped the table lightly as if for emphasis. "If you want to get into this Craft for the gratitude.. find another Craft. You might get to be a hero here, but the recognition will never meet your expectations."

"I have yes, in all the people who have tried it, the worst side effects were a little redness and dry skin. No blisters, or skin lesions. No itching either for that matter. And the dryness was easily reversed with a little oil or lotion. But that was with the plant itself, merely crushed. Next I want to try tinctures and decoctions made from it. See what that does. Since it seems to dry things out, I almost think the ideal treatment would be combining a concentrated liquid, into a light lotion to be administered to affected areas." She was unsure which base would work best, and slowly becoming aware of just how long Ardy had been gone. It never took this long for her Grandfather to write a reply note. Since she'd gotten Ardy used to Betweening, they hadn't really bothered writing long letters. They wrote back and forth several times a day.

"If you're wanting to specialise in skin, I'd keep an eye out for sunburn cases," Cremsden suggested. "They're fairly endemic around here, particularly in Northerners who move over without appreciating that the difference is more than wearing lighter clothing a lot of the time and I don't believe there's really that much monitoring done in terms of how many of our cases end up with longer term issues. There's some interesting work to be done there if it would appeal to you."

"It happens," Cremsden nodded agreeably. "Okay. What I need from you then is to tell me about what kind of things you did growing up - chores, lessons, that kind of thing. We can work to fill in gaps but my life is a lot easier if I know that the gaps are there and need to be filled than if we proceed assuming that knowing how to do a certain thing is standard and end up with you lost." He smiled at her. "Conversely, particularly if you've done any work at all in an Infirmary, there's no point wasting everyone's time by teaching you basics you're already solid on."

Rhosgen liked the stew.
He hoped that it would be a regular dish in the dining hall, and ate it all down quickly.
He leaned against a tree as he nibbled on a bread roll, nose wrinkling as someone near him started cuddling their friend.
And then started undressing their friend.
Rhosgen stared, expecting one of the Masters to yell at them.
That stuff wasn't supposed to be in public!
And now he was starting to feel ...weird.
His hand tightened around the bread roll, and he looked around, starting to feel anxious.
What was happening?!
He turned and ran into the trees.

Rhosgen woke up in the morning, a ruined bread roll still in his hand, and sat up, looking around at all the trees.
He couldn't hear anyone.
"Hello?" He said, hoping someone would answer.
Nothing.
He remembered everyone cuddling each other back at the camp, and...doing other things.
He'd run away, and now he was lost.
His lip wobbled, and he started to cry.

The good thing about being at a camp in the woods, as far as Tyren was concerned, was that he needed neither R'tal or K'ren to be feeling cooperative to take himself on a walk in the early hours. Usually such walks were big treats, allowed only when K'ren was getting back late from an Infirmary shift and feeling awake enough to manage it. For a wher who much preferred being active in the dark hours being able to take himself away on a hunting expedition was a delight.

He was padding back with the remnants of a young wherry still locked in his jaws when he heard something and switched his path to wander towards it. Might be more food, or something small and wriggly to chase and play with or-- or a person. People were good fun; people who were making that strange sobbing noise probably needed help. Or possibly food which, luckily, he had. He dropped the half-wherry at Rhosgen's feet and sat down with a thump. ((Hello.))
