Re: Pre-Month 10 *Betweening* Questionnaire ((B'yge))

So, please just put down a yes or no for any of these quick possible issues:

Are you or your dragon still having any Impression issues? No
Are there any issues bonding and connecting with each other? No
Is your weyrling showing any problems controlling their dragon? No~ish
(Syadmith is helping him get dressed and kinda bossing him around, but
only to keep him focused and he is having to do it less by the week)
Is your weyrling (rider *or* dragon) still being distracted during
lessons? Yes some, but it is getting better
Is there even the slightest hint of an issue or has anything been
incorrect with the images you and your dragon have been passing
between each other and then sending to a WLMs dragon for confirmation?
Nope (think they have been allowed to do this class at latest)
Are there any huge behavior problems with either rider or dragon? Nope

If the answer is ‘yes’ to any of these, your weyrling *will* be held
back from actually going between. If they are being held back from
*Betweening*, then they are also not going to be given permission to
resume intimate relations as it would be considered risky due to the
difficulties they're having. ~~~~~~~~~~Unless I am remembering wrong
wouldn't they also be prevented from their first hunt? Cause I think
hunting is after Between too~~~~~

For those weyrling who are totally perfect and good to do the lesson
*between*, we need to know one more thing.

We are going to have the First *Between* lesson either be done in the
small Mentor groups (instead of the whole class setting) or done in a
1-on-1 lesson with your weyrling and their AWLM mentor (and no other
weyrlings). In either instance, Ko’ssen will also be there (both for
the 1-on-1 lesson, or the small mentor group lesson). In order to
determine if you mentor would be pulling you aside to do this lesson
alone, or if your weyrling would be confident enough to do this lesson
in their small group, we need to know:

Has your weyrling displayed a habit of not speaking or otherwise
acting nervous when other people are in lessons and watching them, as
opposed to when the AWLM has talked 1-on-1 with your weyrling, or has
your weyrling shown no problem talking or otherwise interacting in
lessons when others are watching them? Nope

Do *you* (the writer) want your weyrling to be in a small group lesson
or in a 1-on-1 lesson with just their AWLM mentor and Ko’ssen? Don't
care, but I also think he's not allowed ta do this one yet...

Candidates and Seeing the Eggs: Atten: ALL CANDIDATES

sailyn2

There are now two different posts out for seeing the eggs, one for the boys and one for the girls. The boys get a whole day to themselves first while the poor girls have to get approved by Kassia before they can go see the eggs. Approval occurs either by playing out a post with Kassia or poking me (sailyn3) on discord to talk it. Everyone WILL get to see the eggs in the end, it just may not be for a sevenday. Poke me with questions.

Month 4 and Month 10 Important Info ((Attn: *ALL Weyrlings and WLM/AWLMs*))

Midsummer Dreamers: Month 4 Overview:

Ok, so here’s a list of the lessons/activities that would be expected to happen this month, regardless of if there is a lesson put out on the list or not, as well as various RP opportunity ideas. We are determining which lesson we are going to post to the list still, but if there’s a specific lesson or activity you’d like to see please let us know.

Lesson List/Activities:

~ Continuing physical training based on rider’s age: morning run around the Bowl followed by either calisthenics or the obstacle course on alternating days

~ Continuing series of lessons on Northern Territory: This month’s focus is on Benden and surrounding territory (taught by Harper): geography, weather patterns, history, & politics

~ Continuing Ground Drills: more complex formations, increased time

~ Continuing Dragon-rider Bonding Exercises: blindfold race

~ Continuing Muscle Strengthening/Flight Prep Exercises: more swimming and flapping exercises

~ Making Flying Straps Lesson: taught by leathercrafter

~ Frequent tests on knowledge: testing across all topics

~ Review meeting with WLM/AWLMs on progress to date

~ Firestone pickup from dragonback: weyrlings are on ground tossing bags up to riders who don’t land

~ Fall Experience: maintaining firestone bag supplies for the Wings

~ Flight Gear Fitting: Done by tailor or leathercrafters

RP Opportunities:

~ Reaction to Helping during ‘Fall

~ Firestone bag tossing to riders during ‘Fall: possible muscle strain, or ‘failed’ tossing that doesn’t reach the rider trying to grab the bag (these are *heavy* bags after all and your weyrling might not be physically prepared/strong enough to throw them into the air yet)

~ New earlier schedule annoyance (or not) and physical training in the morning for the human side of the weyrling pair.

~ Trouble making flying straps (weyrlings with leathercraft experience can possibly help other weyrlings)

~ Flight Gear Fitting: the realization that you will be a Threadfighter! Excitement, sudden fear as it’s made more real, a huge ‘wow’ moment perhaps...

Month 4 Review:

So, because there is supposed to be a Month 4 review at the end of the month with your weyrling and the WLM team, I went ahead and made a specific OOC post regarding all the things that would have been covered in this review. If you would not mind taking a look at that OOC post (found here: https://arolosweyr.groups.io/g/OOC/message/160891) and answering a couple of questions that would be greatly appreciated, and would also help us to be better prepared for when your weyrlings are in Month 8 and getting their Interview done before being cleared for moving out of the barracks.

Forgotten of Foreth: Month 10 Overview

Ok, so here’s a list of the lessons/activities that would be expected to happen this month, regardless of if there is a lesson put out on the list or not, as well as various RP opportunity ideas. We are determining which lesson we are going to post to the list still, but if there’s a specific lesson or activity you’d like to see please let us know.

Lesson List/Activities:

~ Continuing physical training based on rider’s age: morning run around the Bowl followed by either calisthenics or the obstacle course on alternating days (this would have been happening since they Impressed)

~ Continuing series of lessons on All Territories: This month’s focus is on social structures and inter-weyr interactions between territories, North and South (taught by Harper).

~ Continuing Threadfall Discussion (built on from month 5 lesson): Threadfall Types & Wind Factors Activity

~ Continuing Muscle Strengthening Exercises: Outside the Weyr ‘Wing Flights’

~ Continued Self Defense Training (Advanced lesson, taught by Weyrguard):

~ Continuing *Between* Prep (built on from month 6 lesson): Drills on recognition points around the Weyr

~ ‘Greenrider-only’ Greenflight Lesson: participation is mandatory OOCly *and* ICly.

~ First *Between* (End of Month): First jump is either 1-on-1 with a WLM/AWLM or in your small mentor group but not in a full class setting. Any weyrling with *any* issue is held back from this lesson.

~ First Kill (only after successful First *Between* lesson): Learning to hunt w/ your dragon.

RP Opportunities:

~ RP for ‘greenrider-only’ greenflight lesson.

~ Build up to First *Between* lesson: possible feelings could include anger at being held back, scared, excited, or even overconfident/cocky.

~ First Hunt: relief your dragon can hunt for themselves now, possible squeamishness at dragon ferocity in the hunt spilling over into your mind.

Pre-Month 10 *Betweening* Questionnaire

Alright everyone, I know it seems like we *just* did a Month 8 Interview for your weyrlings, but before we RP *anything* related to a betweening lesson there is a very small questionnaire that I’d like to get answers for in regards to each weyrling. This is especially important for any weyrlings that had problems enough to be either held back from moving out, or allowed to move out with caveats on possibly being pulled back to the barracks if necessary.

Also, the biggest thing to remember is that if your weyrling is still having *any* issues whatsoever, they will not be learning to go *between* with the rest of their classmates. The WLM team will not risk a ‘oh, it’s only a small problem’ weyrling attempting the *between* lesson and then not surviving, and Ko’ssen especially is going to be very strict on making sure all weyrling issues (Impression Anxiety, behavior, bookwork, and physical activity lessons) are all resolved before each weyrling does their *between* lesson.

Here is a link to the Questionnaire that I posted back on July 20th: https://arolosweyr.groups.io/g/OOC/message/160886

Month 4 Review ((Attn: All MD Weyrlings))

Rosiegirl

Ok, so here’s a general review of the different lesson topics, physical training and exercise lessons, and RP opportunities that your weyrling would have experienced from Impression through Month 4.

In order to better assist with the WLM team understanding your weyrling’s progress over these first 4 months, if you could please let us know not only the answers to these first 2 questions regarding potential behavior issues as well as Impression Anxiety, but also give us an idea as to ‘Passed with Flying colors, Struggled but managed to pass, or Critically Failed’ for both the Book-work Topics and the Physical Training Exercise lessons, that would be very beneficial. And, doing this review now would give something for us to build off not just for WLM response to any issues, but for information that can be used to assist with the Month 8 Interviews.

**Now, these ‘Month 4 reviews’ can also be RPed out as well, so just let us know if you’d like this actually RPed out on camera and we will do our best to accommodate that and get those threads out for your weyrlings.

Has your weyrling had any behavioural issues (for example, anger issues, not paying attention during lessons, fighting with people, etc...):

Has your weyrling had any Impression Anxiety issues at any point in the last 8 months? (If they have, please describe what the issues were, if the WLM team has been aware of this issue ICly or not, and what progress has been made toward resolving these issues. Keep in mind, if the WLM team became aware of these issues, human side of weyrling pair would have been talking with mindhealers while dragon side would have been talking with a gold dragon.):

Book-work Topics Assessed:

**Please let us know if your weyrling would have struggled or had low scores in any of the assessments regarding these topics, and if they did struggle previously then are they still struggling at the end of month 8.**

  • The Empathic Bond: (utilization, effects on lifemates, memory-sharing & other cautions, advantages

  • Basic to Intermediate Dragonhealing: (anatomy, basic first aid, digestive/elimination issues)

  • Duties of a Rider: (dragon & equipment care, sweekriding, drill practice, threadfighting)

  • Northern Territory Lessons: Benden (geography, weather patterns, history, politics)

  • Basic info on Rising and Chasing: what happens during a Flight (more detailed info in Month 6)

  • Flight Gear Fitting: Done by tailor or leathercrafters

Physical Training Lessons/Exercises Assessed:

** Please let us know if your weyrling, both human and dragon side, would have struggled with any of these physical training lessons and exercises, and if they did struggle then are they still struggling at the end of month 8.**

  • Bonding With Dragon Exercises: (mindspeaking, playing, sleeping, during lessons, blindfold tag, trust exercises, utilization of each other’s eyes, blindfold race)

  • Firestone pickup from dragonback: (weyrlings on ground, tossing bags to riders who don’t land)

  • Making Flying Straps: (includes assessment of 1st set to appropriate standards)

RP Opportunities from month 1-4:

  • Issues struggling with new Impression and the bond between rider/dragon pair.

  • Struggling with new life and separation from anyone except WLM team and other weyrlings (including any pets they had before Impression).

  • Reaction to Helping the Healers or Helping during ‘Fall

  • Annoyance or struggle with early morning physical training for the human side of the weyrling pair.

  • Possible reactions after initial basic lesson about Flights (rising and chasing, not just greenrider specific).

  • Firestone bag tossing to riders during ‘Fall: possible muscle strain, or ‘failed’ tossing that doesn’t reach the rider trying to grab the bag (these are *heavy* bags after all and your weyrling might not be physically prepared/strong enough to throw them into the air yet)

  • Trouble making flying straps (weyrlings with leathercraft experience can possibly help other weyrlings)

Hi all!

It's time for a Candidate adventure! It will be kicked off in a couple of weeks time but in the meantime I need to know who would be interested in participating.

The plan thus far is for a fun scavenger hunt-esque adventure at one of the islands off the coast where Candidates will be camping for 2-3 days incompany with volunteer Riders. Nothing crazy dramatic is planned like a wher attack - more treasure hunts and innocent poison ivy related shenanigans.

Please let me know the following if you are interested in taking part:

- If you have a Candidate(s) wanting to go.
- If you are volunteering a Rider to provide supervision assistance.

As mentioned, I won't be starting it up until approximately 18th July so there is plenty of time!

Pre-Month 10 *Betweening* Questionnaire ((Attn: All FF Weyrlings))

Rosiegirl

Pre-Month 10 *Betweening* Questionnaire

Alright guys and gals, I know we *just* had some pretty thorough Month 8 interviews, but in preparation for Month 10 and the all important ‘First Jump *Between*’ lesson, there is a little more that we need to know so there’s a much smaller questionnaire the WLM team needs from all FF weyrlings. And yes, it seems like some of the Month 8 Interview issues only *just* got discussed/ironed out for some of you, but when it comes to this betweening lesson which is set to happen at the *end* of month 10, that would be ICly almost 2 months since the Month 8 interviews (all of month 9 and then up to the end of month 10). So, I need a small update on how you see your weyrlings and their dragons behaving *specifically* as they reach the end of Month 10.

Keep in mind when you answer, your weyrlings are all (especially those that have already shown to have issues in the past) being looked at under a microscope, so please do not answer ‘no’ if they actually are still having any of these issues just because you think it’s been unnoticed...either because you’re trying to have your weyrling be sneaky or are thinking the WLM team would have missed it outright (these WLMs are acting like your *MOTHERS*, and mothers have eyes in the back of their heads to not miss *anything*).

So, please just put down a yes or no for any of these quick possible issues:

  1. Are you or your dragon still having any Impression issues?

  2. Are there any issues bonding and connecting with each other?

  3. Is your weyrling showing any problems controlling their dragon?

  4. Is your weyrling (rider *or* dragon) still being distracted during lessons?

  5. Is there even the slightest hint of an issue or has anything been incorrect with the images you and your dragon have been passing between each other and then sending to a WLMs dragon for confirmation?

  6. Are there any huge behavior problems with either rider or dragon?

If the answer is ‘yes’ to any of these, your weyrling *will* be held back from actually going between. If they are being held back from *Betweening*, then they are also not going to be given permission to resume intimate relations as it would be considered risky due to the difficulties they're having.

For those weyrling who are totally perfect and good to do the lesson *between*, we need to know one more thing.

We are going to have the First *Between* lesson either be done in the small Mentor groups (instead of the whole class setting) or done in a 1-on-1 lesson with your weyrling and their AWLM mentor (and no other weyrlings). In either instance, Ko’ssen will also be there (both for the 1-on-1 lesson, or the small mentor group lesson). In order to determine if you mentor would be pulling you aside to do this lesson alone, or if your weyrling would be confident enough to do this lesson in their small group, we need to know:

  1. Has your weyrling displayed a habit of not speaking or otherwise acting nervous when other people are in lessons and watching them, as opposed to when the AWLM has talked 1-on-1 with your weyrling, or has your weyrling shown no problem talking or otherwise interacting in lessons when others are watching them?

  2. Do *you* (the writer) want your weyrling to be in a small group lesson or in a 1-on-1 lesson with just their AWLM mentor and Ko’ssen?

Of course, you are welcome to message me at any time to discuss any plot ideas for your weyrlings.

~Rosie

Month 3 and Month 9 Important Info ((Attn: *ALL Weyrlings and WLM/AWLMs*))

Rosiegirl

Month 3 and Month 9 Start Date: 28.7.1

Midsummer Dreamers: Month 3 Overview:

Ok, so here’s a list of the lessons/activities that would be expected to happen this month, regardless of if there is a lesson put out on the list or not, as well as various RP opportunity ideas. We are determining which lesson we are going to post to the list still, but if there’s a specific lesson or activity you’d like to see please let us know.

Lesson List/Activities:

~ Continuing physical training based on rider’s age: morning run around the Bowl followed by either calisthenics or the obstacle course on alternating days

~ Continuing series of lessons on Southern Territory (builds on previous month’s lessons, taught by Harper): geography, weather patterns, history, & politics

~ Continuing Dragonhealing lessons (taught by full Dragonhealer of Sr. JM rank or better): Intermediate

~ Continuing Ground Drills: more complex formations, understanding 3d flight

~ Continuing Dragon-rider Bonding Exercises: blindfold tag, trust exercises, exercises utilizing each other’s eyes

~ Muscle Strengthening/Flight Prep Exercises: swimming exercises, flapping exercises

~ Communication in Fall: mental protocols, wing hand signals

~ Basic info on Rising and Chasing: what happens during one (more detailed info in Month 6)

~ Firestone pickup from dragonback: weyrlings are on ground tossing bags up to riders who don’t land

~ Frequent tests on knowledge: Exam on Southern Territory @ end of month; other witten, oral, and practical exams.

~ Fall Experience: maintaining firestone bag supplies for the Wings

RP Opportunities:

~ Reaction to Helping the Healers or Helping during ‘Fall

~ Possible reactions after initial basic lesson about Flights (rising and chasing, not just greenrider specific).

~ Continuing Threadfall Charts lessons: Review of charts, reviews of maps, coordinate work on charts in groups

~ Continuing Problem Solving: Practical, theoretical, & ethical

~ Continuing Dragonhealing (Advanced lessons): Cuts/fractures, respiratory illness, rupture vein/threadscores, wing injuries

~ Continuing Ground Drills: Translating ground to air, these lessons are decreased as Flying exercises increase.

~ Continuing Dragon-rider Bond Exercises (Advanced lessons): Trust building (between riders)

Egg Pictures for Foreth 2020 ATTEN: ALL

sailyn2

Hi all!

It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for, Foreth has clutched! And because we know you all are probably dying of curiosity, the clutch images and descriptions can be found at:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fqVHwNxeMfmThZ6EWtruMRUTcaidMv8iK-RCnyFsM48/edit?usp=sharing

Unfortunately we do still appear to be having some issues with getting the Wizzy to display the eggs, so we have had to rely on using gDocs again.

There is however, a very important announcement to make. As you will no doubt immediately notice, there are TWO (yes, two) golds in this clutch. One of which is open to member Impression and the second has been pre-allocated to a member of the BoD as part of a long-term plot that we have in mind. It’s part of an idea we have been tossing around for a while and felt that doing it this way was the fairest way to give the member-base a chance at a gold whilst informing you ahead of time that one of them has already been earmarked to keep disappointment to a minimum.

As always with any clutch, please do not have characters going to the Caverns until ICly it is announced that you are permitted to do so. This also goes for any attempts at egg-touching. Obviously people are welcome to try but remember that IC Actions = IC Consequences!

Currently we’re looking at a Hatching to be somewhere around late August/early September but we will keep you all informed a little closer to the time once we know what is going to be happening. Whilst the Candidate Hatching form DOES appear to be present in the Wizzy, please do not fill it in as we are not sure it’s working yet and will announce when we need Candidate information.

If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to ask via the Ask the BoD link in the Wizzy.

Thanks all!

Arolos BoD.
